Staff Development Opportunity Digital Media Production for Teachers Today a picture really is worth a thousand words.

Students come to us as technol ogy natives and media savvy learners, expecting to be instructed through the media and methods of a mo dern world. Cabell County Schools Technology Department is pleased to offer a new course designed t o help teachers prepare visual materials that complement and enhance instruction. In this course you will learn to shoot, edit, and present digital photography an d digital video to support a curriculum objective. You will learn to use the Canon Rebel T3i DSLR camera and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 to capture and process still images and Corel Studio to render video . A variety of presentation software packages will be employed to present the media assets you develop. Upon completion of this course you will have a functional media package to support th e instruction of a unit that you will teach. You will then provide feedback on the effectiveness of the materials that you produced. Having completed these requirements, all equipment and software will b e yours to use as long as you are an employee of Cabell County Schools. This is a 12 week course, and your commitment to attending every class session i s essential. Dan Miles and Josh Ratliff, both highly experienced in media production, will facilitate t he instruction. Class will meet on Mondays in Lab B of the Central Office, beginning January 7, 2013. Class size is limited to 15 participants; classroom teachers only.
