Coors Light Scratch Singles League Bowls Wednesdays at 9:15 p.m. HOLIDAY BOWL - 201-337-6516 HIGH SCORING AMF-HPL SYNTHETIC LANES! Maple Family Centers is the first proprietor to win the Bowling Proprietors Association of America (BPAA) Media Award. In the past, the award, which is presented to a national and/or local non-bowling indus- try media representative who, through either print or electronic media, made significant contribu- tions to furthering the sport and business of bowling, has gone to outlets like ESPN, Good Morning America and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Maple Family Centers, a fami- ly-owned chain of five bowling centers stretching from New York City to Long Island, continues to keep its pulse on the community and looks for opportunities to promote bowling. Maple Family Center's portable bowling lane has been featured in two seg- ments of the Rachael Ray Show. The first appearance welcomed Rachael Ray and singer Sheryl Crow who teamed up with Good Morning America hosts to raise money for Feeding America, a hunger relief organization. For every pin knocked down, a con- tribution of $100 was made. A total of $10,000 was raised. Rachael Ray and show producers enjoyed the mobile bowling so much that Maple Family Centers was asked to bring back the lane for a second show with Actor/Comedian, Steve Carrel, in promotion of his new movie The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. "We are honored to be receiving the BPAA media award this year. We wanted our own 'lane to go' to promote our bowling centers throughout the NY metropolitan area, says John LaSpina, President of Maple Family Centers. With that being said, we were surprised to hear from the producer of the Rachael Ray show who had seen us at such an event. You never know the impact bowling has when presented in an unusual venue. It turns out that the producer grew up in one of our centers and we were a known quantity to him. and bowling has been featured nationally as a result. Bowling's appeal is vast and we are proud to do our part to let every community know the joy of our lifetime sport," said LaSpina. Maple Family Centers has host- ed the Bowlers to Veterans Tournament for the past three years. Maple Family Centers and its bowlers have collectively raised over $100,000 dollars in the past four years for BVL. The money raised provides recre- ational and therapeutic programs and services to all veterans help- ing boost morale and brighten many spirits. Since Hurricane Sandy, Maple Family Centers, has had six events to raise relief money. The events helped the community and also brought people into the sport of bowling. Maple Family Centers is a Long Island-based, family-owned chain of five bowling centers stretching from Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Maple Family Centers are actively involved in charity and their events have helped raise more than $500,000 for local charities over the last few years.
