Unit 63 Sound in interactive and media Assignment 1 Research In order to do well in this task I will firstly need to check

out my competition by doing some primary and secondary research which will contain me looking at books in the college library and internet. I will be looking for popular music articles that attract a diverse audience, but also a clear presentable and informative article that is successful. Through the use of my research I discovered that the most popular music magazine was NME.

The New Musical Express, popularly known by initials NME, created by Theodore Smithson, is a music journalism publication in the United Kingdom, published weekly since March 1952. It started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved toward a magazine format during the 1980s, changing from newsprint in 1998. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in the 14 November 1952 edition. In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music newspaper. n online version of NME, NME.com, was launched in 1996. It is now the world's biggest standalone music site, with over 7 million users per month.

Why it works Although this magazine is a punk, rock n roll magazine it still interest and appeals to people who dont listen to that genre of music. It has the feel and vibe of a rock magazine by the text font and colours but presents interviews, music, pictures videos of multiple artist of any genre in the industry today which widens their target audience. This is something I want to include in mine and bring to Tempo. Vibe is another online music magazine However in this magazine it is almost completely different to NMEs one. When reading through some interviews it clearly indicates what kind of target audience this is aimed at which is young female and male adults. The music genre is very speccific and indicated well, the genre is R&B. In comparison to NME this magazine will share less readers because it is only aimed at certain people. I like the colours and text used in this magazine it is very clear and isnt over powering when youre trying to read a long article which you sometimes get with magazines that use bright vibrant colours.
