June 16-22

Welcome
This week we continue our summer series CHASE through the book of Ecclesiastes. Our theme, from Ecclesiastes 3:1-15, is that God has provided a time for every activity in life and that we should enjoy life and find satisfaction in all we do.

Opening Prayer
Thank the Lord for the seasons of life and that He is control of all things. Pray that during this time of Home Group that you would be able to encourage each other to find joy and satisfaction through all seasons of life.

Family Time A) FAMILY PICTIONARY: Write each season of life from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 on an index card. There should be 28 if you do all of them. Some examples include: a time to be born, a time to plant, a time to tear down, a time to weep, a time to love, a time for peace, etc. Play the traditional game of Pictionary. Divide into teams (probably by family), each with their own separate chalkboard/whiteboard/piece of paper and writing implement. Invite a volunteer to come forward from each team. Show them the index card. Have them begin to draw this season for their own team members. The first team to guess correctly receives a point. The team with the most points wins.
B) How would you describe the season of life that your family is currently in? How do you take joy and find satisfaction in this season? Ask other home group members to suggest ways that the family can find joy and satisfaction in the season. How have you seen the seasons change over the course of your lives?

Kids Time What is your all-time favorite season (weather) and why? What is your least favorite season and why? Allow for multiple kids to answer. Sometimes I wonder why God ever created _________ (your least favorite season.) Wouldnt we all be better off without all this __________? (snow, freezing rain, heat, humidity, rain, etc.) Please tell me that some of you agree with me! But God said that He created every season for a purpose. So, yes! Even ______ (your least favorite season) has its purpose. Not only do seasons have their purpose, but times of our lives have a purpose too. That means that there will be times when we will laugh, dance, keep, love others, be loved, and have peace. There will also be times when we will cry, mourn and grieve, give up, fix something that is broken, and have to deal with war. What I want you to know today is that seasons will change. Bad times and good times will come and go. You will change. Your friends and family members will change. Your home, school, or church may even change. And your hair, that will probably change too! But you have to know that God will never change. If you have a relationship with Him, He will never leave you. He will always be there to help you through. God says that He has made everything beautiful in its time. That means that He can take even the worst seasons of life and turn them into something more beautiful than we could ever have imagined. Our God is incredible! Have the kids color a picture of either a season of weather or of life. Adult Time How does it make me feel to know that God is ultimately in charge of all the events in my life? Am I comforted by this reality? If so, how does this truth comfort me? Do I find Gods sovereignty a bit disconcerting? How so? Prayer Time Continue to pray for the participants on the summer short term mission trips trips to Romania and Utah are in progress this week. Pray also for the PBC full time missionaries across the world. Lord, we rest in your sovereignty and take joy in the fact that you are the King of eternity. May your Spirit strengthen us to enjoy life and find satisfaction in all we do . . . Through the good seasons and the bad.
