Srila Prabhupada Uvacha

Anyone who gives up prescribed duties as troublesome or out of fear of bodily discomfort is said to have
renounced in the mode of passion. Such action never leads to the elevation of renunciation. One who is in
Kṛṣṇa consciousness should not give up earning money out of fear that he is performing fruitive activities.
If by working one can engage his money in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, or if by rising early in the morning one
can advance his transcendental Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one should not desist out of fear or because such
activities are considered troublesome. Such renunciation is in the mode of passion. The result of
passionate work is always miserable. If a person renounces work in that spirit, he never gets the result of
renunciation (BG-18.8)
O Arjuna, when one performs his prescribed duty only because it ought to be done, and renounces all material
association and all attachment to the fruit, his renunciation is said to be in the mode of goodness. Prescribed
duties must be performed with this mentality. One should act without attachment for the result; he should be
disassociated from the modes of work. A man working in Kṛṣṇa consciousness in a factory does not associate.
himself with the work of the factory, nor with the workers of the factory. He simply works for Kṛṣṇa & when
he gives up the result for Kṛṣṇa, he is acting transcendentally (BG-18.9)

After this, HG Chaitanya Charan Prabhu
discussed the meaning of ‘Damodarashtakam’ as
told by Sanatan Goswami. In this session he
glorified Krishna’s beauty by saying, “Krishna
wears ornaments not to make him more
attractive but to give service to them. Actually,
ornaments become beautiful by being on
Krishna’s body”. The devotees also had a
memorable camp in Pajaka-Kshetra, the birth
place of Sripad Madhvacharya, where many 2nd
year devotees who were chanting less than 16
rounds resolved increase to 16 rounds.

This year’s book distribution was a great success

explained how these books can transform the
lives and requested him to attend the sessions,
the boy took the book and attended the sessions.
Now he has left the smoking and is blissful. Uday
says “Faith on sastras and expressing it boldly
with conviction will certainly change the hearts of
boys”. One more student was sharing how
prayers to Guru parampara had effect on
preaching.

Nistha/Ashraya--Event of the
Year
This Dec is the most exciting & eventful part of
the year for student devotees from VOICEs all
over the country. Dec 10th to 23rd is a winter
break at all the universities, and thus this is
when we are having the Nishta (for the first time
visitors of Pune temple) and Ashray (for those
who have already attended Nishta earlier)
camps. The day starts with Mangal Arti
(4:30am), Japa, and Guru Puja. The lectures
started with HG Krishna Kishore Pr’s talk on ‘Are
Puranas not some mythology?’, where he gave
the perfect understanding that Puranas are real
histories recorded carefully for the welfare of
all;but they have been misinterpreted and
labeled as mythological by Christian Indologists
simply to promote Christianity and do destroy the
faith of educated Hindu youths of the Vedas,
exposed the foolish arguments of the Indologists.
This was followed by HG Sri Guru Charan Pr’s
explanation of the yukta vairagya, the personal

realizations of HG Akhiladhara Pr–disciple of Srila
Prabhupada, HG Radheshyam Pr’s seminar on
‘Lessons from the life of Dhruva’, and HG Bala
Govind Pr’s presentation on Lord Chaitanya’s
philosophy in relation to other philosophies. HG
Gauranga Pr is mesmerizing us with lectures on
Caitannya Charitiamrita.
The Ashray devotees are waiting to take part in
book distribution, the EASY meet, Jagannath
ratha yatra, lectures on topics like ‘Madhuraya
Kadambini’. The Nishta devotees are going to
Mumbai to visit ISKCON temples at Chowpatty,
Juhu, and Meera Road, and also Gopal’s garden –
the school for devotee childrens & Bhaktivedanta
hospital. The camps would hit climax with the
corner stone laying ceremony for the upcoming
ISKCON new temple at Pune.
