The vigil will conclude with Mass at 7:00 a.m. The Historic Old Mission Church reopens after a retrofit and the vigil is to both mark this reopening and to pray along with Pope Francis and the whole Church for Peace. BRINGING MARY INTO OUR HOMES

"From that hour onward, the disciple took her into his care." May the same be said of us? Do we welcome Mary into our homes? We really should bring her with full rights into the home which is our life, our faith, our affections, our commitments, to recognize the maternal role which is proper to her, that is, a function of guidance, admonition, exhortation, or even of silent presence only, whih is sometimes enough to inspire strength and courage on its own... After Jesus' ascension, the first disciples gathered with "Mary, the mother of Jesus." So, she was also there, in their community. Indeed, perhaps it was she who gave it cohesion. And the fact that she is descripted as the 'mother of Jesus" shows how much she was linked with the personality of her Son. It shows, in other words, that Mary always reminds us of the slavific value of the work of Jesus, our only Saviorin our act of faith as well. (ContinuedNext Page)

Four Reasons Your Child Should Be An Altar Server

1. Your child will enjoy an inside look at the Mass. Altar Servers learn exactly what each part of the Mass means. Often, parish priests will offer a walk through explaining every piece of vestment and all the articles used in the Mass. 2. Vocation, whether to the married or religious life, starts with personal experience. Your daughter or sons faith life will be enhanced by participation. 3. Working with other altar servers and participating in Ministry events helps to build community and lasting friendships. 4. Serving is a great opportunity to learn how to lead. Altar Servers often mentor other servers.

Catholic Learning On the Go With Your iPod

MaryContinued
In the family of God, Mary safeguards each one's difference within the communion among all. At the same time, she can be a teacher to us of availablility to the Holy Spirit, of trembling participation in Christ's total dedication to the will of the Father , of intimate sharing, above all, in the Son's Passion and in assured spiritual fecundity. " There is your mother." Let everyone feel these words as addressed to himself and herself, and so find confidence and drive forever more decisive and serene progress upon the committed path of one's own life. Mary says to us today: "I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say". (Luke 1:38). And with those words, she expresses what was the fundamental attitude of her life; her faith! John Paul II.
