Mateo Calderon ITGS 7-5-13 Definitions Reliability - Reliability can be defined as the probability that it will produce correct

outputs up to some given time. - Reliability is enhanced by features that help to avoid, detect and repair hardware faults.

Integrity - Integrity, in terms of data and network security, is the assurance that information can only be accessed or modified by those authorized to do so. - the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles: a gentleman of complete integrity

Security - Computer security is information security as applied to computers and networks. The field covers all the processes and mechanisms by which computer-based equipment, information and services are protected from unintended or unauthorized access, change or destruction. - It security Sometimes referred to as computer security, Information Technology Security is information security when applied to technology. It is worthwhile to note that a computer does not necessarily mean a home desktop.

Privacy - Internet privacy is the privacy and security level of personal data published via the Internet. It is a broad term that refers to a variety of factors, techniques and technologies used to protect sensitive and private data, communications, and preferences. - Information privacy, or data privacy, is the relationship between collection and dissemination of data, technology, the public expectation of privacy, and the legal and political issues surrounding them.

Anonymity - Most commentary on the Internet is essentially done anonymously, using unidentifiable pseudonyms. While these usernames can take on an identity of their own, they are frequently separated and anonymous from the actual author. According to the University of Stockholm this is creating more freedom of expression, and less accountability. - The quality or state of being anonymous.

Intellectual property - It is an umbrella term for various legal entitlements which attach to certain names, words and phrases, expressions stored in written and recorded media, and inventions. The holders of these legal entitlements may exercise various exclusive rights in relation to the subject matter of the intellectual property. - Intellectual property is a category of intangible rights protecting commercially valuable products of the human intellect.

Authenticity A close relative of authentication, authenticity is the process of ensuring that a message received is the same message that was sent and has not been tampered with or altered.

In social media, authenticity is the word used to describe "real" people behind blog posts and other social profiles that can develop an authentic voice with readers and followers.

Digital Division The socioeconomic and other disparities between those people who have opportunities an d skills enablingthem to benefit from digital resources, especially the Internet, and those who donot have theseopportunities or skills: programs that help to bridge the digital divi de between rich and poor countries. A digital divide is an economic inequality between groups, broadly construed, in terms of access to, use of, or knowledge of information and communication technologies The divide inside countries (such as the digital divide in the United States) can refer to inequalities between individuals, households, businesses, and geographic areas at different socioeconomic and other demographic levels, while the Global digital divide designates countries as the units of analysis and examines the divide between developing and developed countries on an international scale.

Equality of Access Equality of Access is the concept that all persons should have equal rights of access to anything they desire. Everyone should be able to use and access everything in the same way.
