Equal Opportunity Programs Findings

Based on the information gathered during the student employee interviews, the Equal Opportunity Programs office has determined that Florida Atlantic University Regulation 5.010 has been violated. : comments and conversations contain derogatory and sexist remarks which are particularly degrading toward women. conduct has created an atmosphere which is unreasonable and interferes with our students' right to work or study in an environment free of intimidating, hostile and offensive language or behavior. Conversations, statements and remarks, made by directly to the student employees he supervises or in the presence of students in general, have created a hostile work and learning environment which is pervasive. This type of conduct should not be tolerated. If it is determined that , is to be retained in FAU's employment, it is accordingly noted that retaliation or otherwise taking adverse employment or educational action against a member of the University community, because he/she in good faith reported discrimination or harassment or participated in an investigation or review regarding a complaint, is strictly prohibited. Those found to have violated the prohibition against retaliation should be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
