Subject Synopsis By going through this subject, students will be exposed to a wealth of information on Malaysia. They will gain information on Malaysia history, judiciary and ruling system, policies and contemporary issues. Equipped with the knowledge, they will be able to develop themselves holistically and at the same time enrich Malaysia's unique culture. They will become skillful citizens who know themselves, their society and their country. Subject Aim The objective of this subject is to develop Malaysians who are loyal, patriotic and visionary. The aim of this class is also to produce Malaysians who are proud of their country and able to meet daily challenges so that they can live harmoniously as well as able to appreciate and understand Malaysias international role. Upon completing this course, students should able to :1. Explain Malaysias history and society. 2. Discuss the development of society in sense of politics, economy and socio-culture. 3. Reflect on and appreciate the sacrifices made by Malaysia's forefather who fought and defended for the countrys independence and sovereignty. 4. Analyze Malaysia's roles and contributions in the international arena. 5. Instill patriotic values in themselves as to increase nationalism.

Subject Assessment
Overview This subject unit will be assessed by assignments, a test and a final examination with the following weights:
Your final mark will be the combination of the scores for these four components. It is not necessary to pass the individual components to pass overall. Note that marks may be scaled to ensure equity of marking by different staff or across assignments of different difficulties. a.) Assignments There will be ONE assignment for assessment during the semester, in the form of a PORTFOLIO due at the end of week 14. This Portfolio will be worth 20% of your final grade. The Portfolio guidelines are included in this course outline. Your completed assignment should be placed in assignment box stationed at the Admin Office. NO MARKS WILL BE GIVEN FOR LATE ASSIGNMENTS It is your responsibility to obtain copies of the assignments and to meet the deadlines.
Note: You might be required to submit essays via email as well during the course of the semester. b.) In-class Quizzes There will be in-class quizzes given from time to time and will make up 10% of your final grade. Make-up quizzes will only be given to students who missed the class for medical reasons and provide an MC from the doctor. Other reasons will be assessed on a case-to-case basis. c.) Final Examination The final examination will be held from July 22nd August 2nd 2013.
