TODAY’S FOCUS – Fourth Sunday
of Easter: The central image of our
Gospel today, the Shepherd with his
sheep, may not be one that we
immediately connect with. We may not
tend to see ourselves as docile sheep.
But this may be more acceptable if we
truly embrace Jesus as our Good
Shepherd and allow him to guide us on
the path of life.

DEACON CHAD ARNOLD
Deacon Chad will be serving at Our
Lady of Lourdes parish this summer
before returning in the fall for his
final year of seminary at Mount St.
Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg
Maryland and then ordination to the
priesthood in the spring of next year.
His home parish is St. Peters, Schulte
(just west of Wichita). More later.

SCHOOL CARNIVAL TODAY -- SUNDAY, MAY 3rd 11:30am to 2:30pm

Join us for an exciting day of fun, games, great food and fantastic prizes! We have added several new games this year. We
will also have silent auction baskets in the Activity Center as well as Bingo. Bring the entire family and help support YOUR
school. You may purchase tickets/raffle tickets from Beth Smith in the Elementary School office prior to the event for $6.
Tickets at the door will be $7. The tickets contain 20 “punches” to be used at the various games. The Sheriff’s department
will also be there with Ident-a-Kid program and Kansas Highway Patrol will bring two of their simulator devices. The SMC
Youth Group is sponsoring lunch at the carnival. Money raised will go towards their trip to Steubenville for a Catholic
Youth Retreat. The menu includes: hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, desserts and much more. Please support our youth
group! The Home & School officers would like to thank all of the volunteers who have given of their time and talents to help

On behalf of the students, teachers, staff, and administration of St. Mary’s Colgan Catholic Schools, I wish to
express deep and sincere thanks for the gift of education which you make possible for 605 children. There is NO
OTHER K-12 Catholic school in the country which is funded by a single parish’s stewardship. Please know that
our students and employees recognize the tremendous sacrifices made by this parish, and I want you to know this
is what inspires us continuously to push ourselves further, accomplish more than we thought possible, and grow
deeper in our faith at this school.
I hope you feel you are a key to our success, you are, and also that you are kept well-informed of the progress of
our school students and programs through the parish bulletin, website, marquee, press releases, the Catholic
Advance, and most especially through the life of our students. In a few weeks, our School Strategic Plan will be
updated to illustrate how far we have come in the past few years; we will post this on the website and I hope you
get a chance to read it and join us in celebrating growth.
We do have great students at our school, students who are being formed in our beautiful faith and who will grow
to be leaders of society and the church. You, our parishioners, are helping make this happen. In our school, of
course we have areas in which we must develop and we have our differences and conflicts, but we are committed
