The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing an operational test system to meet customers requirements within the scope

of a project. This job requires strong troubleshooting skills and an analytical mind set. Via training, experience and mentoring, the Application Engineer becomes the product expert helping customers use tools to not only meet customer needs but also to help customers gather testing data at the highest quality level with greater efficiency. The Applications Engineers support the following products: Test automation systems used for: Durability testing, Performance testing, Development testing, Powertrain testing and simulation, Emissions testing and certification, Racing development, Vehicle testing Dynamometer control systems Vehicle simulation control systems Emissions testing and certification systems Data analysis packages ECU optimization systems Combustion analysis systems Responsibilities a. Act as liaison and company representative with customers. b. Commission test equipment, including: setup and troubleshoot test and measurement systems implement and tune control loops integrate auxiliary equipment into test system using discrete and/or intelligent communication and control. Familiar with Serial, CAN, Ethernet and analog communications. setup monitoring and control of relevant safeties create commissioning documentation obtain customer sign-off c. Write and implement basic custom tests, when applicable d. Provide sales technical support. e. Provide project engineering technical support. f. Help desk consultation g. Present training h. Requires travel Overview Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent preferred Five years experience in test automation equipment preferred Understanding of electrical and mechanical processes Excellent troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic and software Experience with emissions bench and fuel measurement systems

Able to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings Background in internal combustion engine theory and operation Understanding of instrumentation and electrical practices Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills Thorough knowledge of PC operation, structure, MS Windows, and computer networking required Experience with instrument calibration methods Experience with scripting and knowledge of Boolean logic and Basic (or similar) programming language Ability to work within a group and take direction.
