RAN1515: HSPA Inter-RNC Cell Change

Activating HSPA Inter-RNC Cell Change


Purpose
Follow the procedure below to activate the HSPA inter-RNC Cell Change feature in the RNC.

Before you start


To activate HSPA inter-RNC cell change it must be checked that the following features are active: HSDPA and HSUPA features with Serving Cell Change

Ensure that you have a valid license. This feature is under license key management. Before licensed feature(s) can be activated, the license (a file including the feature information) must be transferred and installed to the RNC. The license can be installed by using NetAct or a local MML interface. If the installation is done by using NetAct, the feature(s) covered by the license are automatically set to the ON state. If the installation is done by using the MML interface, the feature state (ON/OFF/CONFIG) must be set by the user. In new installations, the default state is OFF. For more information on feature states, see Installing licences in the network element . HSPA Inter-RNC Cell Change feature activation requires the following licences: License of the HSDPA Serving Cell Change and Soft/Softer HO License of the HSPA Inter-RNC Cell Change

Ensure that these licenses exist and their state is On.

Steps

1.

Open the OMS Element Manager.

Go to the Tree View.

2 Go to the Tree View. Follow this path: Configuration Management 3. Open the RNC object. Network Topology Tree View

3 Open the RNC object. Select Edit parameters from the RNC object.

4. Set the HSDPAMobility (Serving HS-DSCH cell change and SHO on/off switch) management parameter to Enabled.

Make sure that the source and target RNC support SRNS relocation.

5Make sure that the source and target RNC support SRNS relocation. Note that this feature only works when the RNC release version is set to Rel. 6 or newer in the neighbouring RNC list in the SRNC. Make sure that it is set correctly. For more information, see SRNS relocation decision in the source RNC. 6. Set HSPAInterRNCMobility (HSPA Inter-RNC Mobility) parameter to Enabled or Enabled Without E-DCH Trigger in the source RNC.

7. Make sure that the following related parameters have the default values.

Expected outcome The HSPA inter-RNC cell change feature is activated.

Further information
After activating the feature, there is no need to reset the RNC.
