Organization Background
CBSE and Pearson Foundation have established the Centre for Assessment, Evaluation, and Research through public private partnership. The purpose of the Centre is to develop international capabilities and resources for its schools and teachers. It will focus on best practices in school based assessment, teaching techniques, entrance examinations, conduct research, provide professional development programmes and publications and thereby seek to improve student learning. As a part of the Professional Development Program the CAER will be launching training programs with a train the trainer model. These training sessions will focus on the areas like assessment and assessment literacy to begin; eventually it will be augmented to include other areas. CAER trainers are well respected educators, researchers and workshop facilitators in the field of education. They have been trained with the original authors of this programme Professors' Jim Tognolini and Gordon Stanley, Senior Research Fellows from Oxford University and the Chief Measurement Officer of Pearson Assessment, US, Dr. Jon Twing who have created the first of a series of professional development programmes for teachers and principals.

Position Description

The key responsibility of the Trainer is to deliver high quality training sessions in the field of schools based assessment to schools. They would be expected to deliver upto 3-4 training sessions a month. Additionally, Trainers would be expected to provide ongoing support to the participants. Trainers with an interest in research would have the opportunity to support the centres research initiatives.

Principal Responsibilities
In fulfilling this role, the Trainer will: train teachers and principals in assessment and assessment literacy. collaborate and share information with other trainers as required. provide a report on training sessions on a regular basis. provide support in monitoring activities as required. establish a positive, respectful learning environment for adult learners. motivate learners to be active participants in their own learning. use techniques during training to identify the remedial needs of the learners.

Measures of success at the end of the year The results from training session evaluation questionnaires will be used to evaluate the success of the Trainer.

Qualifications, experience, skills and attributes


Trainers must: have a postgraduate qualification in education, science, mathematics other relevant social sciences discipline with evidence of strong evidence of quantitative or qualitative skills. be proficient in English and Hindi or a native language. have some background in the area of assessment. have evidence of strong communication skills particularly any associated with professional development exercises relevant to educational policy. have demonstrated strong problem solving skills when working in a challenging environment. have an understanding of the Indian education system. have experience in providing training in which the participants are provided with hands-on, active learning experiences. be able to communicate clearly, respond well to questions, and provide effective feedback to participants. be open to learning new ideas and methods of training.
