Core Test Consultant Skills

Software Tester Training I create and hold one day software testing workshops on Exploratory Testing, Test Design, Coaching and career management for testers My workshops are practical as I nd that learning by performing testing is the most effective way to transfer testing skill. Coaching Testers I coach testers either remotely or face to face, helping them improve their ability to test well, helping them deal with their daily testing challenges. I have received numerous commendations on my ability to motivate enthusiasm for testing and improve how testers work. Software Test Management I specialise in transforming test teams into ones with a reputation of offering value and excellent testing. I have used my strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills to manage teams of up to fourteen people. This involved organising objectives and tasks for team members and mentoring new staff.I have been responsible for recruiting staff on behalf of clients. One example was the recruitment of a test manager for Cuscal, once I had successfully implemented the test process. I have excellent project management skills such as project setup, planning, issue and risk management, reporting, and people management.I have used issue management and risk management to keep projects on budget and on time. -1-

Testing I performed has been off site (in my test lab) on in-house. I use testing tools (Ruby, Watir, Selenium) to support the work I do. 2011 - 2012 System Test Manager Transitioned the testing team from scripted testing to Exploratory Testing. I was a key actor in transitioning to a fully edged agile team. Managed a team of 11 testers with a focus on each tester taking responsibility for their testing. 2008 - 2009 Test Engagement Manager, BUPA Australia I was the test engagement manager for Information Systems (IS) Australia. I managed the onshore and offshore testing team. My responsibilities included: Managing the offshore testing team in Mumbai, India. This was a team of eight people. I managed the testing of multiple projects to ensure their timely completion. Implementing and modifying a new software testing process for both onshore and offshore teams. Assisted by in depth communication with key stakeholders including development, customer support, networks and business solutions, I created a software testing process to meet the software testing requirements of all the IT departments.
