The Law Of KARMA

The Secret of Easily Getting What You Want in Life

A long time ago in China, a girl named Li-Li got married and went to live with her husband and mother-in-law. In a very short time, Li-Li found that she couldnt get along with her mother-in-law at all. Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by many of her mother-in-laws habits. In addition, she criticized Li-Li constantly. Days passed and weeks passed. Li-Li and her mother-in-law never stopped arguing and fighting. But what made the situation even worse was that according to ancient Chinese tradition, Li-Li had to bow to her mother-in-law and obey her every wish. All the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing Li-Lis poor husband great distress. Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in-laws bad temper and dictatorship any longer, and she decided to do something about it! Li-Li went to see her fathers good friend, Mr. Huang, who sold herbs. She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all. Mr. Huang thought for awhile, and finally said, Li-Li, I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obey what I tell you. Li-Li said Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to do. Mr. Huang went to the back room, and returned in a few minutes with a package of herbs. He told Li-Li, You cant use a quick acting poison to get rid of your mother-in-law, because that would cause people to become suspicious. Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspects you, when she dies, you must be very careful to act very friendly towards her. Dont argue with her, obey her every wish and treat her like a queen. Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her mother-in-law. Weeks went by, and months went by, and every other day, Li-Li served the specially treated food to her mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicious, so she controlled her temper, obeyed her mother-in-law, and treated her like her own mother. After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li-Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadnt had an argument with her mother-in-law in six months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. The mother-in-laws attitude toward Li-Li changed and she began to love Li-Li like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the best daughter-in-law one could ever find. Li-Li and her mother-in-law were now treating each other like a real mother and daughter. Li-Lis husband was very happy to see what was happening. One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help again. She said, Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep the poison from killing my mother-in-law! Shes changed into such a nice woman and I love her like my own mother. I do not

want her to die because of the poison I gave her. Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. Li-Li, theres nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind and your attitude towards her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her. There is a wise Chinese saying: The person who loves others will also be loved in return. How you treat others is exactly how they will treat you. What you sow is what you reap. This is the simple foundation of the Law of Karma.

Karma is the universal law in all of creation: the law of cause and effect, the law of consequence. Obviously there does not exist a cause without an effect, nor an effect without a cause. Any deed of our life, whether good or bad, has its consequence. The Law of Karma is well known in the East, in Hinduism and Buddhism. Karma is derived from the root word Karman. Karman: (Sanskrit) an act. Obviously, for every action, there is a result. This is well understood in materialistic physics through Newton's Laws of Motion: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. - Newton's Third Law If you hurt someone, then you will be hurt. It is the function of the law to balance all action. The law of karma is the law of the scale. This law is present in everything. For everything we do there is a reaction, a response. As Lord Jesus said: You have heard that it was said to the men of old, You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgement.' But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgement; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, "You fool!" shall be liable to the hell of fire. (Matthew 5:21) Thus, Lord Jesus clearly tell us that the law of Karma is all pervading in big things and in small. So whatever we give to others, that is what we receive in return.

The physical act of killing is not the only liable punishment, we can kill with an insulting word, with a harsh word, even with a glance. One who sows insults will reap insults. One who sows anger, will reap anger. All action that contradicts the Law of Balance must be equilibrated.

There are many ways in which the Law creates balance:

Individual Karma: This is the karma that one person as an individual incurs due to the harmful actions one performed in the past. One suffers in many different ways in accordance with ones own wrong actions. The worst genres of sicknesses are those which are engendered by Karma. Small pox is the result of hatred, diphtheria is the fruit of fornication from past lives. Cancer is also the result of fornication. Tuberculosis is the result of atheism and materialism from past lives. Cruelty engenders blindness at birth. Rickets is the child of materialism. Malaria comes from egotism, etc. Hundreds of other sicknesses have their origin in the evil actions from our past lives. VM Samael Aun Weor

Family Karma: Every family, as a group in intense interaction, creates a complex and deeply interwoven web of actions and consequences. Many families have been together for hundreds of years, deepening and intensifying their suffering from life to life. In these cases the roles often switch: the cruel father is born as the son of his own son in the next life, in order to pay for his crimes. Thus we can understand those families that are torn by hatred, traumas, divorce, poverty, domestic violence etc.

Collective Karma: Groups create and pay karma. Every organization, corporation, region, city, country, planet etc. incurs karma. We see these groups pay in the form of conditions that affect all of them as a group bankruptcy, earthquakes, epidemics, cyclones, political instability, poverty, conflict, terrorism, wars etc. In the Egyptian Mysteries, the Egyptian Book of the Dead, we can study the process of the measurement of karma. The deceased person is brought before a great tribunal, and the weight of his karma, symbolized by his heart, is measured against a feather.

Lord Anubis, the jackal headed God (known in India as Lord Yama or Yamraj) judges the scale, the balance of actions and consequences, and the scale that measures our deeds. He is assisted by 42 Judges or Lords of the Law. All of our actions are recorded in a book. Lord Thoth (known in India as Lord Chitragupta) is the record keeper. And so we are judged: if

we were self-serving and acted without care, then we owe and must pay. And if we served others, and did good deeds, then we are owed, and must be paid.

There are three specific types of Actions:

1. 2. 3. Acts based in the Law of Accidents Acts based in the Law of Recurrence Marvelous conscious acts born from the FREE WILL

1. Acts based in the Law of Accidents

The basis of the first type of action is certainly the mechanicity of the Nature. The intellectual animal is a victim of the circumstances; of his own errors and his neighbors mistakes; of cataclysms, floods or droughts, etc. Say, the Law of accidents could be precipitated by human machines dormant Consciousness or by natural catastrophes. The Law of Accidents becomes each day more potent, because we, the great majority of human beings dont know how to live consciously and intelligently, and we have degenerated, destroying mercilessly the planet in which we live. The most critical is that the factors which provoke accidents, are carried into our inner space, in our psyche.

2. Acts based in the Law of Recurrence

How is our own destiny woven and unwoven? The disembodied one, he who prepares to take up a new physical body does not penetrate the fetus, he only comes to reincorporate himself in the instant in which the creature is born, in the precise moment in which the new born takes his first breath. It is very interesting that with the last breath of the dying person comes the dis-incarnation and that with the first breath the new organism reincorporates itself. It is completely absurd to affirm that one chooses in a voluntary manner the place in which he will be reborn; reality is very different. The lords of the law, the agents of karma are precisely the ones who select for us the exact place, home, family, nation, etc., where we should reincorporate, return.

If the ego could choose the site, place or family, etc., for its new reincorporation, then the ambitious, the proud, the avaricious, the covetous, would seek the palaces, the houses of millionaires, rich mansions, the bed of roses and feathers, and the world would be all riches and sumptuousness, there would no poor persons, there would not exist pain nor bitterness, no one would pay karma, all of us could commit the worst crimes without celestial justice reaching us, etc. The crude reality of the facts is that the ego does not have the right to choose the place or family where it should be born; each of us has to pay what we owe; it is written that he who plants rays will reap storms, the law is the law and the law is fulfilled. Thus, when the ego returns, when it reincorporates, along with the Law of Karma, one other Cosmic Law -- the Law of Recurrence comes into action. Everything occurs again as it has before, plus the good and bad consequences. So, indubitably, various forms of the great law of recurrence exist.

Diverse scenes of our previous lives are repeated, at times in more elevated spirals and at other times in lower spirals. The spiral is the curve of life and it is always symbolized by the snail-shell. We are wicked snail-shells within the bosom of the Father. Obviously, we move about, evolve, and devolve on the spiral line of existence. The law of recurrence is astonishing. The normal, common, and ordinary people always repeat their same dramas. The clowns in each of their successive lives, repeat over and over again their same comedies, whereas the perverse continuously reincorporate in order to incessantly repeat their same tragedies. In accordance with the law of cause and effect (Karma), all of these recurrent events that pertain to repeated existences are always accompanied by their good or bad consequences. The assassin will again be involved in the same horrifying event of assassination, yet this time, he will be assassinated. The thief will once again receive the same opportunity of stealing, yet this time, he will be thrown in jail. The bandit will have the same desire of running, of using his legs for crimes, yet this time, he will not have legs, he will be born an invalid or will lose their legs in some tragedy. The one born blind at birth will long to see the things of life, which in a former life possibly led him to cruelty, etc., yet this time, he will not be able to see them. A woman will fall in love with the same husband of her previous life, the one whom she possibly abandoned on the sick bed in order to run off with another man, yet this time, the drama will be repeated inverselythat is, the man she loves will leave her for another woman, leaving her abandoned. The highway bandit reincorporated within a new bodypossibly of a feminine nature will again feel the desire of running, he will feel pursued, he might shout out loud in a state of paranoia, he will have strange deliriums, yet, this time, he will not be able to escape from himself, he will become mentally ill, he will be demented, etc. Thus, friends of mine, this is

how the law of recurrence incessantly works. An X individual, for example, who in his past existence was, lets say, an adulterer and who had left his spouse for another lady, clearly when he will be reborn into a new body, he will bring in his psyche the I of Adultery, the same I that committed such a crime. Such an I could not express itself in the first years of his infancy, since that event happened when he was thirty years old. Undoubtedly, his I of adultery will wait within the depth of his psyche within his infrahuman fields, his subjective spheres, until the same infamous thirty years of age arrive; so when such an age arrive, that I will emerge with great force and will take over the Intellect, the emotional and the motor-instinctual-sexual centers of his human machine in order to go in search of the lady of his dreams. Beforehand, he would have been in telepathic communication with the ego of such a lady, possibly even having a blind date in some place of the city, maybe in a park or in a party, thus, obviously, this is how afterwards comes the stunning re-encounter. What is intriguing is to see how that ego can haul the intellect, move the emotional and motor centers of the human machine and to take it precisely to the place where he has to encounter himself with the lady of his dreams. Inevitably, the same process has to be performed within her, thus this is how the scene will repeat again such as it happened in the past. Now, let us suppose that a gentleman XX quarreled with another person, with another man in a tavern in his past existence because of this or that motive. Do you believe that because the physical body of both ceased to exist, such an I is going to disappear? No! Such an I will simply continue to exist within the unknown dimension; however, when it returns, when it takes a new physical body again, the moment in which such I will enter into activity will arrive, he will wait until the age in which suc h an event happened in the past existence. If such an event happened at the age of twenty-five, he will wait until the said twenty-five years, such an I will remain within the depth of his psyche until the moment arrives; obviously, that I will take over the centers of the human machine in order to repeat such an event. Beforehand, he would have been in telepathic communication with the other XX individual and they possibly had a "blind date" in another tavern, then they, when seeing each other, will recognize one another and will mutually hurt each other with their words again, thus, the event will be repeated. Behold how underneath our cognitive zone and reasoning capacity, distinct commitments are performed; thus, this is how the Law of Recurrence works, this is the mechanism of such a law.

3) Conscious Acts born from the Free will

It is clear that we do not have indeed what we could denominate total freedom or free will, the margin that we have of free will is very little, the margin of liberty that we possess is very little. The third type of actions are only possible when we have liberated up to a certain

degree the CONSCIOUS WILL. Verily, without a doubt, we are trapped within the mechanism of the Law of Recurrence and this is lamentable. Thus, if a person does not work upon his own life, that person is wasting his time miserably. In which way can we liberate ourselves from the Law of Recurrence? We can do it only by working upon our own life. Unquestionably, our own life is made of dramas, tragedies and comedies. The comedy is for the clowns, the dramas are for the normal, common and ordinary people and the tragedies are for the perverse ones. In the days of yore, the tragic-ones were not accepted within the Mysteries; it was known that those were punished by the Gods and obviously the Guardian of the temple rejected them with the tip of his sword. Do we need to dissolve the I's"? Yes, this is what is logical; since these are the actors of the comedies, dramas and tragedies. Could perhaps a comedy exists without comics? Could a drama exist without actors? Do you believe that any tragedy could be developed in any scenario of the world without tragic-actors? Obviously, it could not! True? Therefore, if we want to change our own life, what must we do? We have no other choice but to dissolve the actors of those comedies, dramas and tragedies. But, who are those actors? Where do they live and why? I tell you, indeed, that those actors are of time, that indeed, those actors come from ancient ages. If we state that the I is a book of many volumes, then we are asseverating a great truth; if we affirm that the ego comes from many yesterdays, this is true. Therefore, the ego is time, the I's" personify the time, they are our own Defects, our own errors contained within the clock of time, they are the dust of times within the very depth of our psyche. Sage Patanjali, the great author of Yoga Sutras calls the sum of these Is, Samskaras the Recurring patterns of habits and behaviors that further binds us in the tangles of the Karma. And the only way to free ourselves from these tangles is to dissolve these Is. That is how we acquire FREE WILL. Many times we, the people who are miserable financially or emotionally (due to relationship problems) or physically (health issues), ask ourselves or we demand an answer from the God that why we are in such a miserable state? What bad we did to receive such fate? A question to this effect was asked to Master Samael Aun Weor:

Question: Master, there are people who apparently did not do anything evil to anyone and nonetheless they suffer due to financial problems. Is their problem related to the law of recurrence? VM Samael Aun Weor: Respectable friends, ladies and gentlemen, God, the Father who is in

secret, can be close to us or far from us. When the child is walking badly, his Father moves away from him; then his child falls into disgrace. He then suffers because of lack of money, he undergoes terrible necessities. The child, by himself, cannot understand the cause of his misery.Obviously, such people believe that they did not do anything bad against anyone. Yet, if they could remember their past lives, then they could evidence for themselves the concrete fact that they treaded on wrong paths. Perhaps they delivered themselves to alcohol, to lust, to adultery, etc. The Father who is in secret, our own divine Spirit, can give to us or take away from us. He knows very well what we deserve, and if we do not presently have money, it is because He does not want to give it to us. He punishes us for our own good. Thus, the Father who loves his child always punishes him for his own good. The concrete answer for this question is: the victim of such sufferings will repeat the same scenes from the past, plus the consequences, namely, poverty, pain, etc. Behold, blessed is the man whom God corrects. Job 5: 17 I tell those who are in misery, to examine their conduct, to judge themselves, to sit even for an instant, on the bench of the accused, after a superlative analysis of themselves, to modify their conduct. If those that find themselves without work would become chaste, infinitely charitable, peaceful, one hundred percent helpful, it is obvious that they would radically alter the cause of their misfortune, modifying as a consequence, the effect. It is not possible to alter the effect if at first, the cause which produced it, has not been radically modified, since as we have already said, there does not exist effect without a cause nor cause without an effect. There is no doubt that misery has its causes in drinking sprees, in nauseating lust, in violence, in adulteries, in squandering and in greed, etc., etc. It is not possible that someone be found in misery when the Father that is in secret is present. Karma is a medicine that is applied to us for our own good; unfortunately, people instead of bending down reverently before the living eternal God, protest, blaspheme, they justify themselves, they excuse themselves foolishly and they wash their hands like Pilate.

With such protests, karma is not modified; on the contrary it becomes harsher and more severe. We demand fidelity from the spouse when we ourselves have been adulterers in this life or in previous lives. We ask for love when we have been merciless and cruel. We demand comprehension when we have never known how to comprehend anyone, when we have never learned to see the other persons point of view. We long for immense good fortune when we have always been the origin of many misfortunes. We would have liked to have been born in a very beautiful home with many comforts, when in past lives we did not know how to provide a home and beauty for our children. We protest against persons who insult when we have always insulted everyone who surrounds us. We want our children to obey us when we have never known how to obey our parents. Slander annoys us terribly when we were always slanderers and filled the world with pain. Gossip upsets us, we do not want anyone to gossip about us, however we were always involved in gossip and backbiting, talking badly about our fellowmen, mortifying the lives of others. That is, we always demand what we have not given. In all our former lives we were evil and we deserve the worst, but we suppose that we should be given the best.

Question: Master, what is the spiritual value of the good intentions of a sincere person who lives mistakenly? VM Samael Aun Weor: Very friends of mine, I will gladly answer this very interesting question from the audience. Remember that the path that leads to the abyss is paved with good intentions. For many are called, but few are chosen. (Matthew 22:14)

The wicked from all epochs have had good intentions. Hitler, filled with magnificent intentions, trampled upon many nations, and because of him millions of people died within the gas chambers or in the concentration camps or on the execution walls or within filthy dungeons. Undoubtedly, this monster wanted triumph for great Germany, thus he did not waste any type of efforts to achieve this effect. Nero burned Rome on behalf of his art, with mystical intentions of making the lyre resound universally. Thus, with the longing of liberating his people from Christianity, which he considered an epidemic or a scourge, he was throwing the Christians into the Roman circus so that the lions would devour them. The executioner that fulfills an unjust command has magnificent intentions when he kills his fellowman. Millions of heads fell to the guillotine during the French Revolution, and the executioners worked with magnificent intentions because they wanted the triumph of the people. Robespierre, filled with magnificent intentions, led many innocent people to the gallows. Likewise, we must not forget what the Holy Inquisition was. The inquisitors, with magnificent intentions, condemned many wretched people to the fire, the torture rack, martyrdom. Thus, I want you, ladies and gentlemen, to comprehend that what is important are the good deeds and not the good intentions that can be more or less mistaken. The judges of Karma within the tribunals of objective justice judge the souls based on deeds, based on the clear and definitive concrete actions, and not by their good intentions. Results are what always count. Thus, it is useless to have good intentions if the results of our actions are catastrophic. Crime is hidden within the incense of prayer. There exists a great deal of virtue within the wicked and a great deal of evil within the righteous. The saints have also committed a great deal of evil with their virtues. Verily, verily, I tell you Gnostic brethren, that when we do not know how to use virtues, we can cause harm to others with those virtues. Love is law, but Love with Cognizance. Complacency with crime is also a crime.

The Four Ways to Acquire Negative Karma:

1. Negative Actions

2. Negative Words The wise ones say, the physical wound gets healed in a few days, but the emotional wound produced by harsh, insulting and negative words do not heal for years. And who does not know the effect the words of a leader can produce on his followers or general public. Arousing, violent words can make thousands and millions of people to do violent acts or can fill millions of people with hatred. 3. Negative Thoughts Repetitive negative thoughts and emotions harbored against others affect them 4. Failing to act when we could. We also acquire negative karma for the good deeds in word, action, or thought that we could do, but do not. What good is the power or the ability that is not used when it is needed. If a lady is being raped in front of a man and he does not take any action to stop the rapist, is he not an accomplice to the crime?

The Golden Rule

When you deeply understand the Law of Karma, you will realize that in reality it is not the Law to punish you. When intelligently applied, it is the law which can give you what you want. The Law of Karma, when applied as the yang golden rule:

Do unto others what you would have them do unto you

gives you the power to get what you want in your life. If you want to be loved, love others. If you want others to understand you, understand them. If you want to be respected, respect others. If you want to be rich, you want money, give money do charity. If you want peace and harmony, then be courteous and gentle with others. If you want to grow spiritually, help others on the spiritual path. If you want to be healthy, help the diseased.

The Law of Karma, when applied as the yin golden rule:

Do not do unto others what you would not have them do unto you
helps us avoid undesirable results in our lives. If you do not want others to cheat you, do not cheat and lie to others. If you do not want to be cursed, do not curse others. If you do not want others to be angry on you, do not be angry at others. Whatever you do not want to be done to you, stop doing that to others. Simple!

Neutralizing Negative Karma

Fortunately my dear friends, justice and mercy are the two principal columns of the Divinity. Justice without mercy is tyranny; mercy without justice is complacency with the transgression. In this world of misfortune in which we find ourselves, it is necessary to learn to handle our own Karmic affairs, to guide the ship of our existence through the diverse ports of life. Negative Karma can be neutralized. When an inferior law is transcended by a superior law, the superior law washes away the inferior law. Do good deeds to pay your debts. The lion of the law is combated with the scales. This is the IIIrd factor of the Revolution of the Consciousness. The Sacrifice for the humanity. Doing good deeds to pay our due Karma. He who has with what to pay, pays, and does well in his Karmic affairs; he who does not have with what to pay, pays with pain. If on one pan of the cosmic balance we place our good deeds and on the other, our bad deeds, it is evident that the karma will depend on the weight that is on the balance. If the pan with the bad deeds weighs more, the result will be bitterness; however, it is possible to increase the weight of the good deeds on the pan of the needle of the balance, and in this manner we will cancel karma without the need for suffering. All that we need is to do good deeds to increase the weight of the pan of the good deeds. Now you will comprehend, how marvelous it is to do good; there is no

doubt that upright thinking, upright feeling and upright doing are the best in Karmic affairs. We should never protest against our karma. What is important is to know how to neutralize it. Unfortunately, the only thing that occurs to people when they find themselves in great sorrow is to wash their hands like Pilate, saying that they have not done anything bad, that they are not guilty, that they are just souls, etc., etc.

The sick instead of worrying so much about themselves should work for others, do works of charity, try to heal others, console the afflicted, take persons who do not have with what to pay, to the doctor, give away medicines, etc., and in this manner they would cancel their karma and they would be totally healed. Whoever suffer in their home should multiply their humility, their patience and serenity. Do not answer with insults; do not tyrannize your fellowmen, do not upset those who surround you, know how to forgive the defects of others with patience multiplied to the infinite. In this manner you would cancel your karma and would become better. Unfortunately, my dear friends, that ego that each of us carries within, does exactly the opposite of what we are saying here; because of this, I consider it urgent, unable to be postponed or delayed, the reduction of the Is to cosmic dust. When this and that karma is totally developed and unfolded it has to inevitably reach its end. This means that it is only possible to radically modify karma when repentance is totaland when every possibility of repeating the error that produced it, has disappeared radically. It is good to also know that when we have radically eliminated the ego, the possibility of being delinquent remains annihilated and, as a consequence, karma can be forgiven.

Ripe Conditions
Everything is as it is because of previous actions. Every action produces a result. The results blossom when the conditions are ripe. The value in this for us is to recognize that part of our responsibility is to create good conditions for our own development and for the good of others. The first step to neutralizing our negative karma is by choosing to behave in a better way. And the best way to do that is to provide ourselves with conditions that support our decisions. If you want to stop drinking alcohol, the first step is to stop going to the bar.

You may think that spending time with drug-users or lustful or bawdy friends is okay; you aren't doing drugs, or you are not being bawdy; so what's the harm? But being with them puts you in certain conditions. It's like fire, if the elements that create a fire are brought together, only certain results can come of it. It is a law: if you place certain things together, then there will be definite results. So, if you spend time with peaceful, serene people, it will have an effect on you. And if you spend time in bars, it will have an effect on you. This is unavoidable. If you want to become chaste, you must stop feeding the mind with lustful impressions. Creating proper conditions is an indispensable aspect of succeeding in ones life. Effects can only manifest under supportive conditions. So we must examine the conditions we have in our lives, and be more conscious of where we take ourselves, and what kind of influences we bring into our minds. Just as a farmer plants a certain kind of seed and gets a certain crop, so it is with good and bad deeds -- Indian Epic Mahabharata

Now in these lines is hidden a very important aspect of the Law of Karma, seldom understood by most spiritual schools and aspirants. When the farmer sows the seeds in his farm, does he reap the crop immediately? Of course not! It takes time for the crop to grow and then only it is harvested. Similarly, if you plant an apple seed, the tree may take some years to start giving fruits. Another important fact is that, when one apple seed or one seed of grain is sown, how many apples or grains are harvested from that one seed? Just one???? NO. MANY, many apples. Many, many seeds of grains. This is called the

Multiplier effect of the Law of Karma.

When we sow one bad deed, we reap many many bad deeds in return.

Boya ped Babool ka to Aam kahan se hoe meaning: If you sow a thorn tree, you cannot reap mangoes. Fortunately, this works in the same way for good deeds.

When we sow one good deed, we reap many many good deeds in return.

So whatever you sow, so shall you reap. So if you want to reap grains, do not sow thorns. But, it takes time for the crop to mature. It takes time for the seed to grow into a tree and then for that tree to start giving fruits. Dheere dheere re mana, dheere sab kuch hoe Mali seenche sau ghada, ritu aaye fal hoye.

-- Kabir

meaning: Be patient my mind, things happen slowly. Just as a gardener waters his plants all the year but its only in the season that the fruits come out. Or in other words, even if a gardener would pour a hundred bucketful of water on his plants, the fruits will come only at the time of maturity, not before. Many times we are confused when we see somebody doing a lot of evil deeds, yet that person is enjoying immense riches or power. And likewise, we see some righteous people suffering. Now, you can understand, why is it so! So long as an evil deed has not karmically matured, the fool thinks his deed to be sweet as honey. But when his evil deed karmically matures, he falls into untold misery. -- Dhammapada (Wisdom of the Buddha) So till the time, those seeds of evil of that supposedly fortunate person do not mature, do not start giving fruits, he enjoys those riches or power. But as and when those seeds of evil deeds that he sowed, become trees and start giving fruits, then that person reaps a lot of untold suffering. So the person you are seeing enjoying his evil deeds is just a person whose crop of evil has not yet matured. Similarly, the righteous person is just harvesting the seeds of evil he sowed earlier in this life or past lives. And after he would have already harvested his fruits of evil actions done in the past and the trees of righteous deeds would start giving fruits, he would reap

untold gifts. This is how the intricate workings of the Law of Karma come into play.

As per these workings of the Law of Karma, at any given point of time, a person has in his fields of life:
1. Just sown seeds evil or good. The new seeds we are planting by our current actions, which will bear fruit in the long term future. 2. The crop from intermediate karma/actions which have grown but there is still time for fruits to fructify. The harvest which is due in near future. 3. The crop/trees which are flowering, which are giving fruits in the present. The harvest that we are currently reaping.

Of course, we cannot undo what we have already sown. Yet, there is the Law of Mercy and the Law of Forgiveness, which we can utilize to neutralize our negative Karma:
1. Meditate on the Death of the Ego By sincerely repenting on our mistakes, by learning our lessons, by disintegrating the actors (the Is) who did the negative karma, we finish the cause of the errors, thus entitling us the Divine Forgiveness and Mercy. 2. Balancing the Scale, by doing good deeds Voluntary suffering, voluntarily sacrificing for the good of others:

2.1.

Tithing: Give 10% of your income to charity for the rest of your life. Because of the Multiplier effect of the Law of Karma, sowing a few seeds of money will reap you, heaps of money. Meaning, that giving just 10% of your income will come back to you, many many times.
Many of the worlds richest people tithe regularly. Many attribute their riches to following this simple principle in their lives.

Who does not know the charitable works of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. J.D. Rockefeller, Sr. said, "I never would have been able to tithe the first million dollars I ever made if I had not tithed my first salary, which was $1.50 per week."

William Wrigley Jr., (1862-1932) founder of Wrigley chewing gum F. W. Woolworth, founder of the old Woolworth dime stores William Colgate, founder of Colgate-Palmolive Sir John Marks Templeton the founder of the highly successful Templeton group of mutual funds. He later created The Templeton Foundation which gives millions annually to religious and charitable causes. He is recently quoted as saying, "I focus on spiritual wealth; and I'm busier, more enthusiastic, and more joyful than I have ever been!" When candy manufacturer John S. Huyler started out in business, he took Jacob's pledge: "...of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee" (Gen. 28:22). Going to the bank, he opened a special account which he initialed "M.P." Into that fund he regularly entered a proportionate amount of his income. When anyone asked what the strange label meant, they were told that it stood for "My Partner." As he kept God uppermost in his mind in all his transactions, his industry grew at a phenomenal rate, and each week the "Lord's treasury" received increasingly large sums. His gifts to worthy causes and private individuals amazed his business associates. These contributions were always accompanied with the request that the donor should not receive any thanks or glory for his actions. He asked each recipient to offer praise to God alone, for he said, "After all, the money isn't mine; it's the Lord's!" J.L. Kraft, head of the Kraft Cheese Corporation, who had given approximately 25% of his enormous income to Christian causes for many years, said, "The only investment I ever made which has paid consistently increasing dividends is the money I have given to the Lord."

But, there are certain rules. There are certain rocky patches, some
barren lands and only a certain portion of the field is fertile for the seeds to grow healthy fruit giving trees. So where should you sow your seeds of tithing, OR, in other words, to whom should you give your charity?:

I. Understand that, we are Karmically obligated, hugely indebted to (a) Our Parents they gave us our physical birth, our body

(b) Our Spiritual Teachers, Guru, Spiritual Organization they gave us our spiritual birth (If you deprive your parents or spiritual teachers, you will also be deprived)

(c) (d)

Churches or Temples we attend Relatives, workers and house-helps

II. Non-Karmic Obligations (Applying the Golden Rule) a) b) NGOs (Charitable Institutions) People in need

Thus, firstly we should give to settle our Karmic obligations and then only, if we want to give more, to Non-Karmic obligations. Its like, one should not pay back to Tom when one is indebted to Peter. Another important thing here is that Tithing or giving should be done secretly. When the pride and self importance tithe or give, making a pomp and show of their giving, of their charity, then the pride already receives the reward of that giving in terms of the fame it gets from that show-off. Thus, no further credit is given in the Karmic books of accounts of that person, of that tithing. That seed has already borne the fruit of fame. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily, I say unto you, they have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth; that thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly. (Mathew 6:24)

The Man Who Couldn't Tithe W.A. Criswell tells of an ambitious young man who told his pastor he'd promised God a tithe of his income. They prayed for God to bless his career. At that time he was making $40.00 per week and tithing $4.00. In a few years his income increased and he was tithing $500.00 per week. He called on the pastor to see if he could be released from his tithing promise, it was too costly now. The pastor replied, "I don't see how you can be released from your promise, but we can ask God to reduce your income to $40.00 a week, then you'd have no problem tithing $4.00." 2.2. Avoid injuring, controlling, and being cruel to other people.Mercy cannot be shown to those who do not show mercy to others. Forgive others: It is in pardoning that we are pardoned -- St. Francis of Assisi One must first forgive others before one can seek Divine Forgiveness (Mathew 6:12) For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you but, if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive

your trespasses (Mathew 6:14-15)

2.3. Practice the Golden rule, yang and yin. This is the secret of getting what you want in your life.

The Meditation on Karma

Give and you shall be given. The more you give, the more you shall be given, but whosoever gives nothing, even that which he has shall be taken away from him. VM Samael Aun Weor

The Practice Mainly, we have 4 major fields in our lives: 1. 2. 3. 4. Spiritual Emotional (Relationships|Family) Financial (Career|Business) Physical (Health)

Relax yourself. Relax all your centers, your muscles, your bones your whole body, from toe to head. Now, in this serene condition, visit each field one by one. Take stock. How is your each field? Ask yourself: What am I sowing in this field of my life? What seeds am I planting there? What am I giving?

And what do I expect to harvest? What will this giving bring me in return? What will I reap? If you do not like the harvest, then you have to change what you are sowing in that field of your life. Ask yourself, to reap what I want to reap in this particular field, what should I sow? What should I give? You may keep on chanting OM MASI PADME YOM mentally during the whole meditation.

Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.)

2)
