This is a brief article about the power of just being conscious, being
aware of even the most insignificant looking details rather than
ignoring and staying vulnerable. A number of exercises are included
to lead you into being more conscious of things about you that you
really don‟t pay much attention to, and a first step into knowing
yourself and who you are and then being more conscious of what
could probably be going on with someone else.

INTRODUCTION

issue, don‟t you finally surrender to their persuasion after
they touch you tenderly? We are able to detect meals that
smell nice and would be good to eat just by perceiving it
from a distance, can‟t we? We always want friends and
family to wish us good luck before we embark on a journey
or take a decision, we like them to, don‟t we?

We all have to have power over something, that is why it is
innate in us all, and to tap into this power we must follow
the path that leads to its residence …. And that path is our
consciousness; consciousness of our being, consciousness of
other beings, consciousness of how we are connected,
consciousness of the essence of love and consciousness of the
essence of oneness.

become part of your visual, mind and taste consciousness,
the same with when you smell and feel it; it has become part
of you in your mind/thought, taste, smell, sensation and
visual consciousnesses; that is: to an extent a big part of a
collective consciousness; plenty of alternatives to call it back
into your awareness. You can now identify Tuwo-Shinkafa
in a number of ways with or without your eyes. You know
the delicacy, first-hand and you don‟t need someone to tell
you about it. If Tuwo-Shinkafa was a person, your knowing
it in all those aspects, doesn‟t necessarily mean that Tuwo-
Shinkafa knows you, it doesn‟t and that leaves you with
something Tuwo-Shinkafa hasn‟t got: knowledge about you
and your existence. This is an insight into being powerful
and what you can do with the power.

pissed you off in the past continue to suffer and you were
the only one who could bale them out, but you want to hold
back because you think no punishment might ever be
enough to atone for all their vices?
If you have ever truly been in touch with how you have ever
taken critical decisions paying attention to if it was mentally
oriented, ability and skill-oriented or spiritually oriented,
and you want to give sincere answers to the above three
aspects cited in mind, body and spirit, you will realize that
options are more likely to be weighed in mind and body but
not in the spirit. The spirit doesn‟t weigh options; it balances
them. The mind and body may control each other but
neither of them can control the spirit.
The mind plays the middle man between material and
immaterial realms of the human being. The body resides in
man‟s physical/material realm; his emotions, thoughts and
spirit reside in the immaterial realm.
The mind has power over the physical using the emotions as
a vehicle to the body; the mind has no power over the
spiritual but connects with it using nothing but the
willpower. If your body is weak you begin to think you
cannot carry out specific tasks; you will also feel you can‟t
do certain things; and this is usually the case if you‟re more
detached from your spirit than in touch with it.

There is without a doubt power in the mind, there is no
doubt that there is also power in the physical body but there
is a great deal of it in the spirit! If you are more in touch with
your spirit your body gets empowered and the task is
carried out. In essence the source of great power lies in the
spirit realm, but you cannot have access to even a fraction of
that power if you refuse to be conscious of it. The true
consciousness is in the spirit. The more conscious man is
about what is, the more powerful he becomes; the more
indifferent he is about what is, the more vulnerable he
becomes. You will agree with me that no one wants to be
vulnerable to anything, but wants to be in control of their
own situation, to have power over their own circumstances,
but we must remember that there are two sides to power as
there are to every other thing; there is a good side and a bad
side, there is negative power and there is positive power.
Negative power wouldn‟t do us much good so we need to
seek for positive power; that is where we should centre our
energy consciousness.

Seeking materialism, possessions and all other forms of
vanity limits the individual; it is in seeking for peace and
well-being that abundance, wealth and health of mankind
resides. If we are not in touch in spirit there will always be
chaos, because we all think differently, we all have varying
physical capacities, and we all have varying emotional
responses to different situations; but we all speak one
language in the spirit.

Take a simple problem for instance: ignoring the problem
doesn‟t make it go away; acknowledge or admit you have a
problem, and that is a first step but do not dwell on it. Next
find out how severe it is, what led to it and what it can lead
to, then find out ways to resolved it, permanently. By doing
this you already have power and control over the problem.

completely believe in yourself no matter how impossible
you had previously thought that that talent couldn‟t be one
of yours; put your mind, body, spirit and emotion into this
devotedly, and one more thing make sure it is a positive
talent, if otherwise just throw this manuscript away. My
second tool would be the sub-conscious mind. Let me tell
you a little something about the subconscious mind, the
conscious mind and the universal mind. Have you ever
sleep-walked? Have you ever wondered what you were
doing at a particular place after being shaken by a sudden
noise? These are some works of the subconscious under the
command of the conscious mind or universal mind. The
subconscious takes anything the conscious gives it. For
instance, do you know that when you tap someone while he
is half asleep and tell him, “Hey, dude get up, someone‟s
waiting for you outside,” that the sleeping person obeys
helplessly and when he gets outside he keeps standing
there? You were conscious and manipulating his
subconscious. Try asking someone a question while they are
half asleep, I bet you know they‟ll tell you the truth. The
universal mind is where thoughts of everyone becomes one
thought. Let‟s begin shall we?
Activity 1:
Firstly:
Be conscious of any talent at all, then acknowledge that
talent as yours, then affirm that you have it and it had
always been with you since you were born. This is intended
to help you slowly burn the idea of this talent into sub-
conscious mind.

Secondly:
Try to be practical with this talent (no matter how badly
your performance seems, do not be discouraged, press on;
do not be a quitter) while you are conscious of it (whether
you have it or not believe you have it). This is intended to
make it slowly slip further into your sub-conscious mind so
that it becomes part of you and when this becomes the case,
you become more proficient with the talent over time both in
your conscious mind and your subconscious mind. If you go
ahead and meditate with it, you gain access into the
universal consciousness and you tap into insights and ideas
on how to improve on that talent. [Remember, geniuses
didn‟t become so in a day, aside from prodigies].

Activity 2
The journey into power, must take place in mind, body and
spirit, unless you miss the path. The journey starts from the
spirit, down to the mind, then the physical body. You can‟t
see the mind or the spirit, but you can see the body. The
most powerful realms of existence are the unseen, and only
they have a true influence over the seen, not the other way
around.
Never let your mind or your body try to govern your spirit,
it‟s futile and trying to do so gets you growing weaker and
weaker. Examine this carefully. The mind is like, the mid-
way, it has to be silenced for the spirit to be in animation. As
long as it is unsettled the body remains detached from the
spirit, and the mind reasons according to the dictates of the
body. The mind should reason according to the dictates of
the spirit, in order to propel the body into carrying out the
most powerful and effective deeds.

God and when we find God we find the true power. So here
is another consciousness pathway: attunement.
How does one get attuned?
Attuning
Literally, attuning is like trying to adjust something to be
receptive to something else; more or less like balancing or
harmonizing. Like the common physics experiment with a
tuning-fork, when you strike it somewhere it begins to
vibrate and when you place it on something else that is
static, it raises the vibration of that static object and their
vibrations begin to match up giving off a fine tune. Our next
activity will be more like this tuning-fork experiment.
Activity 3
For this exercise you can use the speaker of your stereo or
c.d. player or the voice of one who has a bass voice.
Firstly
Play a musical especially one that has a strong bass-line (like
the Hip-Hop song „Mo Money, Mo Problems‟). Next, place
your palm on top of the player or preferably on the woofer
part of the speaker. Notice how your palm vibrates as the
bass plays along; not just your palm but the entire arm and
in most cases the entire body.
Secondly
Take your hand away from the player or the woofer and
leave it somewhat in front of it without contact. Notice how
your hand still experiences vibrations going through it and

your body, even though it‟s not as much as when your hand
was in contact with it. Notice also how you feel the vibration
on the chair you are seated and on the wall in the house.
Thirdly
Walk as far away from your house as you would not hear
the song anymore and notice how the vibration stops going
through your body.
*when people are farther from your circle you have little power
over them but when they come into your circle you have immense
power over them.
I‟m sure while doing this experiment your body also felt
some kind of warmth and if you are not used to heavy
sound you might begin to feel some strong headache. This is
something not new to you, you know it ordinarily but you
don‟t put much consideration into it, but when you decide to
make a little deal out of it you would be able to infer an
analogy from it on some other puzzles in life and get
answers. This activity with the speakers is something you
know subconsciously, but as I have called it to your
consciousness, I‟m sure you wouldn‟t even need to put on
your c.d. player to have a feel of what I‟m trying to make
you achieve, you already know. [but do it anyway].
When you are in the midst of choristers when they are sing
especially the bass singers you will notice how where you
are seated vibrates. We send out very pronounced vibrations
when we sing, talk, shout, quarrel, hum, whisper etc. we
also send out vibrations when we think, dream, daydream
and reason. Try something with a friend, one of you should
begin to hum and then the other should join later. You will
realize that there is harmony, because of a variation in voice

texture and there is a higher quality of sound and you both
feel it, that when one stops it has a sudden effect on your on
sound and voice; you were both attuning to each others
voice when one person stopped it stopped. We already
know that a cool music can be a pacifier for certain ailments
while lousy music could only make your situation even
worse.
You should realize now that in order to attune with anything
that thing has to have a higher vibration than ours and high
vibrations of the best quality produce sounds that the ears
cannot pick up. So our instrument for attuning to the source
of great power would be none other than our minds. The
minds have to be silenced to pick up this high vibration and
resonate with it; you can sum this up in one word:
meditation.

body that we have no control over [breathing and the
heartbeat].
Activity 4:
Firstly
Place a glass of water in front of you, make sure it is half full
so you can see the level of the water when looking sideways
at the glass. You may place this half-full glass of water on
either a table or a stool and this should be directly in front of
where you will be sitting for this activity.
Secondly
Sit comfortable on any stool or even a sofa, relax yourself by
loosening every tension in your body, beginning from your
toes to your angles then gradually up your shin and calves
to your knees, then your thighs, then your hip (this place
especially, as you are seated) then your upper torso, your
neck and then your face.
Thirdly
Place your palm on your chest where you can feel the
pumping of your heart; get a feel of the tempo and note it _
note how your body vibrates and shakes with every
heartbeat because this happens every second of our lives.
Breathe on it real slowly and make sure you are still totally
relaxed.
Fourthly
Now, remove your hand slowly from your chest as you still
pay attention to the tempo of your heartbeat. Take your
attention to your ears and attempt to hear your heartbeat as

you are seated, by now your hand is carefully placed beside
you and continue to feel how your body is still shaking.
Fifthly
Next, point your index finger at the half-full glass of water in
front of you until the tip of your finger touches it gently. You
will notice that the water which used to be still will
suddenly begin to shake and remain unsteady as long as
your finger remains on it.
Activity 5

With every intake of air it feels as though your entire body,
from sole to crown, tries to expand and with every outflow
of air it feels as though your entire body contracts and tries
to squeeze out toxins. This implies that your body needs
everything fresh going into it and everything stale going out.
The fruits, vegetables and food we eat should all be fresh
because they go into our bodies, so also should the air we
breathe. The water we drink should be clean and the juice
we drink should be fresh. It‟s not only inside the body that
needs refreshing but the surface as well. When it is time to
pass feces, do it; when it is time to pee, do it, don‟t hold it
back they need to leave your body because they are stale and
toxic as the carbon-dioxide you breathe out. I won‟t forget to
mention your mind; all those ideas, emotions and thoughts
need to be expressed not locked inside. Anything produced
inside the body has to be let out at an appointed time and
anything going in isn‟t meant to stay in forever. Be dynamic,
think of happy events ahead and forget the past events that
weigh you down but learn from them though. [This could
probably keep you younger].

what do you feel? Warmth, right? That is heat energy. When
you walk into a spacious room that is completely empty, you
get the true room temperature of that room, but when
enough people walk into it, that there is no space for one
more person to get in, just imagine the heat that is built up in
about five minutes, especially if everyone is dancing; I bet
you if the extra person who couldn‟t get in just places his
arm from outside into the room, his arm would warm up.
You can try it, if you doubt.
The heat you feel around your body, and that of other
people is your initial contact with the human energy field.
When the body gets rid of negative energy, the heat of the
energy field rises. For instance, a man who is worried-sick
can sweat profusely in an air-conditioned room. When the
body is filled with positive energy the energy field maintains
a normal body temperature.
Activity 7

same spot on your backhand side, you will realize that the
sensation lasts even longer than that moment (as long as one
minute or more). To help with the observation: note that
same spot you scratched on one hand and weigh it with the
corresponding spot on the other hand that you didn‟t
scratch.
Activity 8

happy with yourself and satisfied with what you get and
love yourself, you have succeeded in the first phase of your
journey to the true power. When you know yourself, begin
to understand that whatever flaws you have, some others
might have it as well and what ever virtues you have some
others may have it as well and wherever you may be going
wrong is where others may be going right and wherever you
may be going right may be where some others may be going
wrong; virtues, vices we all have them, no one‟s perfect,
understand that. We need each other to journey towards
perfection.

are nobody, your kids know they are powerful as long as
you show them love and attention. And all you who are
single and unmarried, you are powerful to a bunch of people
who you don‟t even know if they exist. Someone out there
has been drawing some inspiration from you and
appreciates you a lot, even when you think you are a failure.
I‟m not saying these things to make you feel good, if you
haven‟t noticed things like this yet, you will sooner or later
and might overhear it in a couple of people‟s discussions;
you will, as long as you pay attention to yourself and your
environment, remember that that is how you truly get
empowered.
May God, Allah, the Supreme Being be with you in all you
