i) ‘Trace route’
ii) ‘Ping’
iii) ‘Finger’
iv) Scan all TCP port ( 1 to 65535 ) of your computer using ‘Nmap’ command.
v) Scan UDP ports 1 to 1024.
3) Experiments on Servers
i) Configure a FTP server in Linux / Unix. Upload multiple files to the server at a time and
also download multiple files from Server to a specific Directory at a time.
ii) Configure DNS, FTP, SMTP & WWW for internet domain according to the information
given below:
Domain name : wbut.edu
NS : ns1.wbut.edu [ip address : 192.168.1.1 ]
MX : mail.wbut.edu [ip address : 192.168.1.2 ]
FTP : CNAME of mail.wbut.edu
WWW : CNAME of mail.wbut.edu
iii) How you will transfer a file from local machine to your server.
a) ASCII mode.
b) Binary mode.
c) What difference(s) are you getting?
4) It is assumed that NFS server is running in your computer. If it is not available you may install any
NFS server program you are familiar with.
a) Record the name of the server program.
b) Record location of the configuration file.
5) Experiments of firewall configuration in Linux
i) Using IP tables utility, configure the firewall of your host such that it blocks ‘http’ request
from any machine and outgoing ‘ftp’ requests but your host can send ‘http’ packets to any
one and receives ‘ftp’ packets. Display the existing firewall configuration. Now delete the
rules from the firewall.
ii) By IP chains commands set up a firewall to deny access to ports 20, 21 and 80. Test it and
show that the firewall works.

6) Experiments using Turbo C Assembler

i) Write an ALP to display frequency of each digit of a given alphanumeric string.
ii) Write an ALP to read the system time and print message like Good Evening, Good
Morning, Good Afternoon according to the time.
iii) Write the ALP program to display the following series
a) 1, 12, 123, 1234, 12345, …………
b) 1, 22, 333, 4444, 55555, …………
c) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ………………………..N
iv) Write a program in assembly level language that can perform the swapping of two numbers.
v) Write a program in assembly level language(8086) in Turbo C to print a number whose ASCII
value is given.
vi) Write a program in assembly level language(8086) in Turbo C that can add two one- digit
numbers given by the user and print the result.
vii) Write a program in assembly level language in Turbo C that can add two two-digit numbers
given by the user and print the result.
viii) Write a program in assembly level language(8086) in Turbo C that print the number 1
to 9 using a loop.
ix) Write a program in assembly level language in Turbo C that will ask the user whether
or not “is it morning”. Upon the user’s reply program will greet/salute the user.
x) Write a program in assembly level language that prints two characters using stack
pointer.
xi) Write a program in assembly level language that prints 1 to 10.
xii) Write a program in assembly level language that can be perform the swapping of two
numbers.
xiii) Write a program in 8086 assembly level language to find factorial of any number.
xiv) Write a program in 8086 assembly level language to implement division by repeated
subtraction method.

OBJECT TECHNOLOGY LAB (CS 695)
