Farewell from The Dog Rambler

3.5 years

Welcome to the new Dog Rambler Matthew Davidson

Three and a half years have sped past. Some dogs have come and gone and some dogs have joined us relatively recently. We have had fun filled days together out in all weathers. Winter days walking along deep snow encrusted hills and head down days as rains and storms lashed us like angry waves from the sea. We have had our sad times too with the untimely death of Brooklyn. But have also seen the arrival of new little human additions to the dogs families. As the business has begun to grow up over the steady passage of the years it has seen its spring months with the dogs much younger and mad like March hares. Maturing into Summer as many have become calmer, relaxed by the warmer years of life. But all still capable of showing a turn of speed, a flash of smiling teeth and a thrash of a happy tail as their desires are fulfilled on their varied rambles. It may have been a swift chase through gnarled roots of budding heather, a dash and a dive into the deep clear waters of a reservoir, or the lazy stroll up a steep hillside to catch the breeze along dipping hilltop ridges. All captured by the watchful lens of the camera and the budding hand of The Dog Rambler e-diaries. A pleasure for me to have had the great fortune to spend so much time with such a fantastic group of dogs. The kind of variety of characters found in a great novel or adventure story. Some cautious and shy others ebullient tinged with mischief but all great friends to each other and to me too. And what a pleasure to have become friends with you their owners over the course of the years. Memories and friendships Ill not forget and that I hope will be renewed time and time again on visits to our hotel.

Too many special moments to recount. Too many almost tearful farewells over the last week. But all of it tinged with the bright future ahead for The Dog Rambler. A silver lining in Matthew whose dedication over the last few weeks has won him the hearts of the dogs and my admiration and friendship for life. I am so pleased that I and with your support The Dog Rambler has given him a great leg (or should I say walking boot) up for his future. A great legacy for The Dog Rambler. It is partly with a heavy heart that I say farewell to you all. But I leave with memories without compare and the unanticipated support and good wishes from you all, which has been truly touching. Happy future ramblings for all the dogs, Ive loved every minute of it. That is down to both you and your dogs. Thank you.

Nick
