Established in 2011 to honor Richard Steinkes contribution to the transportation industry in Southern California through his hallmark leadership style partnership, collaboration and customer first, the scholarship will be awarded annually to an individual who demonstrates her leadership in contributing to the sustainable transportation solutions, services or policies for the region. The Richard D Steinke Port of Long Beach leadership Scholarship is in the amount of $1,000. The scholarship is competitive and applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: transportation career goals, demonstrated commitment to leadership, and the recommendation. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. The minimum selection criteria are as follows: a. Open to women only b. Currently enrolled in a graduate, undergraduate or certificate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics, or in the field of environmental planning and science c. Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field or in environmental planning d. Enrolled in a school in Los Angeles County or have residency in Los Angeles County To apply applicants must do the following: 1.
