4.3 Abstract- Abstract should be one page synopsis of the seminar report typed double line spacing, Font Style Times New Roman and Font Size 12. 4.4 Contents- Contents should list all the material following it as well as any material, which precedes it. The title page and Certificate will not find a place among the items listed in the Contents . One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. A specimen copy of the table of contents of the Seminar report is given in Appendix 3. 4.5 Nomenclature- One and a half spacing should be adopted or typing the matter under this head. Standard symbols, abbreviations etc. should be used. See Appendix 6. The order is as follows: English letters, Greek letters, Superscripts, Subscripts. This should be in alphabetic order. 4. 6 Chapters- (If necessary) The chapters may be broadly divided into 3 parts i. Introductory chapter, ii. Chapters developing the main theme of the project work and iii. Conclusion. The main text will be divided into several chapters and each chapter may be further divided into several divisions and subdivisions. Each chapter should be given an appropriate title. Tables and figures in a chapter should be placed in the immediate vicinity of the reference where they are cited. Number all pages consecutively starting from the first page of the Main Text through the end of the report. Page Numbers should be located on bottom. It should be centered. Use small roman letters ( i, ii, iii, iv) for the Front Matters of the report starting with the title page, but do not put the number i on the title page. Use the decimal system for all headings. Use capital letters for chapter headings and capitalize the first letters of significant words in subheadings. Start a new page for each chapter. The word CHAPTER should be centered from the top of the page. The title should be typed centrally. The chapter headings should be Bold and the line spacing should be 1.5. The Font size is 14. See the format given below to know about the font case to be used in division and subdivision headings. 1.1 INTRODUCTION (General case) 1.1.2 General case2
No underlines are allowed for chapter headings and division or subdivision captions. Conclusions: Conclusions can be inferences.
4.7 Equations: Use the same numbering systems as figures and tables. The number is placed at the far right of the equation and is bracketed. If referred to in the word is capitalized and abbreviated (e.g. Eq 4.3) except at the beginning of a sentence, where it is spelled out. 4.8 List of References The listing of references should be typed below the heading REFERENCES in alphabetical order in single spacing left -justified. The reference material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. The name of the author/ authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details. 5. SEMINAR REPORT SUBMISSION: The preliminary report should be prepared and submitted for suggestions on any suitable white paper of the student's choice. The final report must be submitted for each student engaged in that seminar with a CD and two hard copies for the department library. All the copies of the final seminar report must be printed A4 paper. Each hard-copy report must be fastened in a spiral -cover binder which is light blue in colour. CD of the report and presentation must be in the MS-Word 2003 format. The CD needs to be enclosed in an adhesive backed pocket and the title of the seminar along with the name of students should be displayed on the cover.
