Small description of the match (extra-ordinary incidents etc.):

The last Matchday of Group C in FIFA U-20 WC 2013. The match was played between El Salvador and Colombia. It was an important game because both teams had big chances to qualify. El Salvador had to win while Colombia could have been qualified even with a draw. The match in its progress presented several situations to be evaluated by the referee Nant Alioum from Cameroon, but at the end it wasnt very challenging because Colombia dominated and deserved to win with a big score (0-3).

Referee
Crucial Decisions (refer to penalty kicks, sending-off situations etc.) Minute and Description of the Scene / Assessment of the referees decision Penalty appeal by Colombia. Contact in area between Cordoba (COL) and 20 Mendoza (SLV). The referee lets the game flow. Correct decision: not enough to whistle a penalty, the contact is slight, Cordoba falls down to easily. Penalty whistled in favor of Colombia. A pulling from behind by Ayala (SLV) on Cordoba (COL). The pulling starts outside of area, then the player falls inside. Ayala is booked and not sent off because there are other two defenders near the 24 scene, ready to take part in the action. The decision can be evaluated as correct, nevertheless the Colombian player was able to fall later and get this foul just inside the box.

Basic Observations (refer to the general application of the LotG, highlight the referees tactical approach, personality, match control, management of the teams and players, teamwork etc.). Please deploy short but precise and detailed sentences! Positive Points Teamwork: both assistants reported fouls in their area of vicinity. Especially Edibe 1. (AR2, not involved in offsides) suggested to Alioum the YC to Renteria (COL) for a blatant handball. Evaluation of crucial situations inside the box, taking the correct disciplinary 2. decision. Communications with players. He gave warnings and instructions prior to free 3. kicks, corner kicks and so on. 4. Good fitness. Points for Improvement Coca (SLV) was booked for a harsh foul from behind on Vergara (COL). It might have been a straight red, with the ball away. Still acceptable decision by Alioum, 1. no crucial mistake at all, but surely a point for improvement in evaluating these situations. In this match he decided to have a lenient approach.

Further observations (peculiarities of the referee revealing his character) Nant Alioum decided to give cards only in mandatory situations, having a certain leniency but at the end his foul detection was good, so for this reason we can accept his style. In this match it wasnt a real problem because at the end Colombia dominated all the 90 minutes and then won easily. But in different and more intensive matches, he could face problems. Small area for improvement, in a anyway satisfying performance. The important thing is that he was aware of his choice.
