You only need to input the data and make some adjustment. System dynamically configuration work mode View data configuration work mode The configuration is task-oriented. You can complete the task by following the wizard. The system generates commands automatically. Under this mode, you can view the network topology, network planning data, and engineering data.
Start the OMC Shell, connect to the OMC Server, and then start the BSC DACS system if the OMC Server exists. Start the OMC Local WS, connect to the BAM by specifying the IP address of the BAM, and then start the BSC DACS system if the OMC Server does not exist.

Issue 08 (2006-08-20)
Connect to the M2000 Server through the iManager M2000 client, and then start the BSC DACS system if the M2000 Server exists. Without M2000 Server, start the Local WS through the iManager M2000 Client and then set the IP address of BAM, and then start BSC Data Auto Configuration System.
When the BSC DACS system starts, it downloads the file AutoCfg.dat from the BAM to the Work Station (WS) through FTP. After the transfer and conversion or the dynamic configuration is accomplished, the BSC DACS system uploads the file AutoCfg.dat from the WS to the BAM through FTP.
Besides the module data, there are also such important files as cc08.bsm, cc08.ctn, cc08.mcm, cc08.mcs and cc08.snt under the directory \DLOAD. The data under the directory \DLOAD cannot be deleted or modified during the routine maintenance. The description about the data types is listed in Table 1-2.

To save the data, choose File > Backup Data to. To restore the data, choose File > Reload Data from if the system exits abnormally. After all the data is configured, convert the auto configuration data into the *.DBF format and then into the *.DAT format. Finally reset all the modules to load the data.
A user name and password cannot be shared by multiple operators. The operators granted with the advanced authority must be expert at operating the system. To ensure the stable running of the system, the BSC32 divides the users into three categories. The operation authorities of these users are as follows:
Table 1-3 Operation authorities of various users User Advanced user Operation Authority Enjoys the highest operation authority. They can implement any kind of data configuration. Advanced users refer to users with authorities to manage the OMC. Ordinary user Can enter the System Dynamic Configuration Work Mode and the View Data Configuration Work Mode. Ordinary users include users with Service Setting Authority, users with Management Authority, and users with OMC Setting Authority. Browse user Can only browse data.

The name of the backup file is YYMMDDHHMMSS.Dat, which means Year Month Day Hour Minute Second. The procedure to configure the data is as follows: Step 1 Back up the files AutoCfg.dat and *.dbf in the BAM. The directory of the AutoCfg.dat is C:\OMC\BSC\BAM\dload\cfgdata. The directory of the *.dbf is C:\OMC\BSC\BAM\dbf. Step 2 Prepare a detailed data configuration scheme and a recovery measures for failure. Step 3 For the critical dynamic configuration, first perform it in a simulating environment and check whether the refreshed DBF data table is correct. If it is correctly refreshed, perform the operation in actual environment. Step 4 If the transfer and convert operation fails during the initial configuration, repeat this operation until it succeeds. Step 5 If abnormality occurs during the dynamic configuration, refer to section 1.8 "Troubleshooting to handle it. ----End
The BSC DACS system can be started through the following three ways.

Figure 1-9 Starting the BSC DACS system through the OMC Local WS
The BSC DACS system obtains data from the FTP Server. After the data is successfully loaded, the work mode selection interface appears, as shown in Figure 1-4.
Regardless of the way through which the BSC DACS system starts, the BSC DACS system always obtains the configuration data through the file AutoCfg.dat stored in the BAM. This ensures the integrity and consistency of the data. Back up the file AutoCfg.dat before implementing some critical operations (for instance, transfer/convert data table, dynamic configuration and refresh selected tables) because these operations refresh the file AutoCfg.dat.

This parameters sets the timeout threshold for the transferring of a single message. Modifying this parameter affects the timeout of the transfer operation (see Note below). Increase the value of this parameter when the network is of bad quality. The default value is 200.
Flow control slide window for adding data Flow Control Slide Window For Deleting Data Transmit Speed
Set the number of slide windows for adding data. Control flow of the BAM. If the data of BAM are too large, the value can be decreased properly so as to decrease impact to flow load of BAM. The default value is 11. Set the number of slide windows for deleting data. Control flow of the BAM. If the data of BAM are too large, the value can be decreased properly so as to decrease impact to flow load of BAM. The default value is 2.
z
This parameter sets the speed to transfer data from the BSC DACS to the BAM. Reduce the value of this parameter when the network is of bad quality. The default value is 5 kbit/s. This parameter sets the timeout threshold for the convert operation. Increase the value of this parameter when the network is of bad quality. The default value is 180.
Convert BAM Data Table Timeout Threshold (s) Dynamic Configuration timeout threshold(s) Lock BAM Timeout Threshold(s)
This parameter sets the timeout threshold for dynamic configuration. Increase the value of this parameter when the network is of bad quality. The default value is300. This parameter sets the timeout threshold for the BSC DACS to lock the BAM. Increase the value of this parameter the network is of bad quality. The default value is 5. This parameter specifies when the BSC DACS auto unlocks the BAM. If the BSC DACS is idle for a time longer than this value in the dynamic configuration mode, the BAM is auto unlocked.
It takes long time for BAM to execute the OMC_DELETE command. Therefore, the number of Flow control slide window for deleting data cannot be set too large.

----End
If part of the data tables need to be sent to all modules (BM), the BSC Data Auto Configuration System will refresh these data tables and clear the record in the table of command line parameters. Then the configuration file will be saved to the BSC Data Auto Configuration System, and these data tables (including the empty table of command line parameters) will then be set to all modules (BM), and configuration data will again be stored into the configuration files of the BSC Data Auto Configuration System. The step is described as the second setting in the following text.
Secondary setting can be performed for the following dynamic operations. Such as add/delete sites, add/delete cells, add/delete TRXs, add/delete external cells, modify external cell property, modify interface phase flag, modify cell handover parameters, modify cell FH attributes, modify cell BCC and NCC, modify TRX channel type, modify TRX frequencies, modify cell installation status, modify voice optimization parameters, modify monitor timeslot, configure bypass switch, configure BIE trunk networking mode and mobile BTS.
The procedure of batch modify cell parameters is same as the procedure described in above. System generates the corresponding commands. The configuration procedure is determined by the commands.
Without Command
BSC Data Auto Configuration System generates all data for BSC table according to this dynamic configuration without command. BAM data table will be refreshed according to the corresponding ID of the current configuration. And then the corresponding data table will be set to all BM, and data will be stored into the configuration files of the BSC Data Auto Configuration System.

The bad quality of the network also leads to the failure of loading data from FTP server. Exit the BSC DACS and restart the BSC DACS after a while, the problem may be solved.
When the BSC DACS loads data, it checks if the version of the file AutoCfg.dat is consistent with the version of itself.
If the version of the BSC DACS is higher than that of the file AutoCfg.dat, the BSC DACS can run normally. Ignore the warning prompt. If the version of the BSC DACS is lower than that of the file AutoCfg.dat, upgrade the version of the BSC DACS. If the warning prompt appears during the upgrade, ignore the prompt.

To avoid the corruption of the data in the BAM, only one user can modify the data in the BAM at a time. When a user is implementing the initial configuration or dynamic configuration, the BAM is locked by the user and you can only start the View Data Configuration Mode. After the user exits the BSC DACS, the BAM is unlocked and you can implement the initial configuration or dynamic configuration.
z
A user who implements the data configuration quits the BSC DACS abnormally
If a user who implements the data configuration quits the BSC DACS abnormally, the BAM may still be locked. In this case, find the workstation according to the IP address in the prompt information as shown in Figure 1-37 and log in to the BSC DACS again through this workstation. Exit the BSC DACS normally and the BAM is unlocked.

If fault occurs Before the dynamic configuration is saved for the second time
The solution is to In this case, update the following tables in the initial mode: Cell Description Data Table, Cell Module Information Table, External Cell Description Table, and Frequency Hopping Data Table and send the updated tables to all modules. If the dynamic configuration is to implement the operation Modify BSC Interface Phase Flag or Modify Voice Optimize Parameter, send the Local Office Information Table to all modules.
During the dynamic configuration, the modules configured with data in the multi-module BSC must be operational. Otherwise, the dynamic configuration may time out.
Handling Suggestions
To handle this fault, perform according to the following: Step 1 Do not exit the BSC DACS and keep the BAM in "locked" state to prevent other users from entering the dynamic data configuration mode to modify the data. Step 2 After the FTP Server is recovered, choose Options > Backup Data to > FTP Server to load the file AutoCfg.dat to the FTP server. A prompt as shown in Figure 1-38 opens, prompting you whether to overwrite the existing file.
