This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts of synchronous and asynchronous machines and analyze their performance. Through lectures, seminars and assignments, the students are provided learning experiences that enable them: 1. To learn about the construction and performance of salient and non-salient type synchronous generators. 2. To understand the principle of operation and performance of Synchronous Motor. 3. To impart knowledge on the construction, principle of operation and performance of Induction Machines. 4. To learn about the starting and speed control of three-phase Induction Motors. 5. To understand the construction, principle of operation and performance of single phase induction motors and special machines.
