A RIDE TO EXCITEMENT, ADVENTURE & NATURE THROUGH BEACHES, FOREST & HISTORICAL PLACES OF GOA

NO IFS AND BUTS JUST HAVE THE GUTS TO EXPLORE THE THRILL OF BIKING ACROSS THE REMOTE BEAUTY OF GOA
The biking trail travels from the Arabian Sea coast to Netravali village in the magnificent Sahyadri Western Ghats, which are recognized as the top 10 biodiversity spots of the world. The journey moves across the forests and the ecologically devastated mining belt in Sanguem, to the splendid Dudhsagar Waterfalls. The voyage winds its way from the Bondla wildlife sanctuary to the calm and peaceful banks along the River Mandovi. It also visits the UNESCO World Heritage site of Old Goa. Thus the trail encompasses the entire range of all what Goa has to offer historically and naturally. From the coastline to the midlands to the mountain ranges is a huge experience of a varied land, a rich heritage and an interesting diversity of people who are proud of their land, culture and tradition. Dates : The arrangement has been made to accommodate 20 bikers per group on following dates : 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 Dec-13, and 1, 3 & 5 Jan 2014. Duration of expedition will be 8 days. How to participate : The Members desirous of joining the programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, Which is attached with the form. Photocopies of the attached form are acceptable. The minimum age for participation is 15. Form should be sent along with D.D. or At Par Payable cheques of participation fee. Online Booking is also available at YHAI website. Fees : Rs.3600/- per participant (YHAI membership compulsory) The fees will cover stay simple nutritious vegetarian meals, expert guidance, equipment and insurance. Participants will bear to and fro travel expenses from their home to the base camp. Payment of fees by Demand Draft or at par payable cheque only in favor of "NATIONAL TREKKING EXPEDITION GOA" payable at Panaji, Goa. Cancellation : In case you are unable to join the biking after paying the participation fee, you will get a refund of Rs. 1800/- provided your written request is received directly in the State office of Goa State Branch(not by email) at least 15 Days in advance from the date of your reporting. No refund will however, be admissible if such notice is short of 15 days. How to reach the Base Camp : The base camp for the Goa biking is located at Sports Authority Ground, Near Miramar Beach, Panaji Goa. The nearest railway stations are Thivim (25Kms), Karmali (12 km) and Margao (33km.). State bus

service is available. Direct bus service is also available from Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore & Mangalore. Direct trains are available from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and major cities of India. Risk Factor : This is a high risk adventure programme involving stiff cycling. The following risk factors can affect the participants : 1. Exhaustion due to stiff cycling 2. Fall / accident during cycling leading to ordinary or serious injuries. 3. Drowning (if participants go for a swim which is strictly prohibited). 4. Any unforeseen event All the above risk factors can lead to simple / serious injury, temporary / permanent disability. YHAI will provide adequate assistance in the above circumstances but cannot be held responsible for any risk mentioned or not mentioned above. What you should bring : Sun cap, cotton T-shirts, slacks / Cycling shorts, Sun screen lotions, sports shoes ,cotton socks, torch, lunch box, enameled or steel mug / tumbler, plate, spoon, pen-knife, needle , thread, goggles, cold cream or Vaseline, Soap , toilet paper, towel, medicines (which you normally use at home) camera optional. Equipments Provided by YHAI : Geared Bike, Helmet & Ruck Sacks. Every group will be accompanied with an Motorbike carrying a guide to show the way and an expert cycle mechanic in case of breakdown. Safety : Extensive and painstaking preparation have gone into the planning of bike trails for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. The Youth Hotels Association of India, cannot be held responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen eventualities. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If the participant desires to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the bike expedition and checking out. Certificate: Participants who successfully complete the biking expedition and abide by the discipline of the program will be awarded certificates. Special Casual Leave: No Special Casual Leave is applicable for biking expedition. Attention: Do not litter any wrapper or spoil the trail in any way. Please ensure eco-friendliness. USE OF ALCOHOL AND NARCOTICS OF ANY DESCRIPTION ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THE COURSE OF THE PROGRAMME.

Participants will have to bike an average distance of 45 Kms [6 hrs] per day on an uneven terrain with nominal slopes. Therefore kindly ensure perfect fitness before joining the expedition.
