1.1.
Signalling Systems are at the heart of any Telecommunication Network; in fact, like most other scientific inventions, signalling in telecommunications is based on common sense and copying nature / human behaviour. From the times of STROWGER TELEPHONY (the first automatic telephone technology), signalling has undergone massive evolution, & in the most modern DIGITAL MOBILE NETWORKS, a highly sophisticated signalling system called the Signalling System Number 7 is used. Knowledge of Signalling System Number 7, popularly referred to as SS7, is understanding the language between two Exchanges / Telecom nodes. This course provides a strong foundation to all Telecom professionals with particular focus on switching core. Who should attend? This course is strongly recommended for all Telecom Professionals in Technical field to help them you get familiar with one of the most powerful & complex signalling systems followed in the Telecommunications Industry the Signalling System Number 7. Course prerequisites: While a GSM / CDMA background is preferred for the candidates, it is not a must; interest in circuit switched core, & some exposure to switching technology is expected. Course Duration: 3 days Course contents: Session 1: CCS7 Concepts Introduction to Signalling Types of Signalling: CAS and CCS Advantages of CCS CCS7 Network: SP, STP, SPC, SL etc CCS7 Functional levels: MTP and UP Types of Signalling Units: MSU, LSSU, FISU

Introduction: The acronym SIGTRAN stands for SIGnalling TRANsport - a set of protocols defined to transport SS7 messages over IP networks. SIGTRAN allows IP networks to inter-work with the traditional (TDM Based) SS7 network and vice versa. The SIGTRAN protocol is made up of several components:
the IP Layer; A common signaling transport protocol SCTP (used to ensure that the data required for signalling is delivered in a way so as to meet the stringent requirements of a REAL-TIME & delay sensitive service like Voice Calls) the Stream Control Transport Protocol ; Layers that provide Users of various upper layers, a suitable environment for delivering the requisite services.
This course explores each of the above mentioned components, covering their functionality and applicability. Who should attend? Telecommunications Engineers in the Switching / VAS / IN domain requiring a detailed explanation of the use of SS7 in IP telecoms networks. This course will provide a boost to all the Network Architects involved in Operations, Development and Deployment of an IP based Next Generation Network. Course Prerequisites: Participants to have a basic understanding of TCP/IP and a fairly detailed understanding of the SS7 Signalling (because the SS7 upper layers reside, as it is, directly above the Adaptation Layers of Sigtran). Course Duration: 2 days Course Contents:

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a signaling, instant messaging and presence protocol used for controlling multi-media sessions. It provides a way to establish voice, video and advanced messaging between devices. This course covers an in-depth understanding of SIP and how it is used to setup and release calls in a packet network. Practical applications shall be discussed through TRACES and SIMULATIONS for clear understanding. Who should attend? This course will provide a boost to all the Network Architects involved in Operations, Development and Deployment of an IP based Next Generation Network, specifically recommended for all personnel working on 3G VAS / multimedia services. Course Prerequisites: Only a technical aptitude is good enough to start off with this course. However, a Telecom background with some basic understanding of voice & non-voice call flows is desirable. Course Duration: 2 days Course Contents:
Session 1: SIP Overview o o o o o o o What is SIP? VoIP SIPs and OSI model SIP System Architecture SIP Addressing SIP Methods, Messages, and Responses SIP Simple call flow

GSM Overview
This course is designed to give an insight into mobility telecom domain. It covers almost all spheres of GSM domain ranging from Radio frequencies, GSM architecture, Air Interface, Core network, Value Added Services, simple call flows, jargon used etc.; all for a Technical audience. Even though this course is called GSM Overview, we take up the CDMA technology as a part of the course agenda, to douse the curiosity in the minds of young engineers for the differences between the two. Similarly, an overview of NUMBERING, ROUTING, SYNCHRONIZATION (T.O.D and Switching Clock), NLD / ILD, etc too is given in this module. A brief overview of Value Added Services (VAS) is also given for enabling the participants to appreciate the inter-dependence of Network with Other Domains / Streams, as also make the participants aware & familiar with end-to-end perspective. Other regulatory subjects like MNP procedures, TRAI and interconnect agreements / CPP regimes are also discussed for a holistic understanding of the network and its various nodes. The course is specially targeted for Engineers entering the telecom domain to bring them up to speed with their choice of Industry. Course Duration: 2 days

IN & CAMEL
Customized Application for Mobile network Enhanced Logic, or CAMEL for short, is an important standard for intelligent mobile communications network. CAMEL enables mobile network operators to offer value added services quickly and efficiently. IN is a more generic term that refers to various services (& sometimes, even to the nodes) that Intelligent Networks deliver. Typically, INAP protocol is used here as a generic baseline. This course provides a comprehensive study of this key technology. The program begins by understanding what Intelligent Networks are and how did they have evolved (& evolving). The essential concepts and principles, potential services and applications are discussed and used to illustrate the value that both IN and CAMEL can bring to both operators and users. The discussions about introduction to IN and evolution of CAMEL lead to understanding of the different CAMEL features, organized by phases of CAMEL. This course also gives the trainees, an overview of various other services (like Premium Rate Calling / Toll-Free-Calling, Tele-voting, Calling Card Services etc) This training program will be highly beneficial for all professionals in planning, operations, development of Intelligent Network / CAMEL related services. Course Duration: 3 days
