WEST WYOMING - Angie Fanelli summed up the opinion of the majority of the approximately 50 people in West Wyoming Hose Co. No. 1 Thursday night: We want them to just take it somewhere else, the West Wyoming resident said of a natural gas gate station proposed by UGI Penn Natural Gas for a property near Fire Cut Road. UGI Penn Natural Gas has asked the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to determine whether a natural gas metering and gate station with four buildings planned for a site near Fire Cut Road can be exempted from local zoning. A dozen local residents objected and petitioned the PUC to be included in the case.

Producer Josh Fox invites the public to, Watch the film, listen to the folks who tell their stories and open your eyes. Question how oil and gas industries have influenced our elected officials and government agencies. Fossil fuels not only pollute the climate: their moneyed supporters can contaminate our democracy if we let them. Screening in Your Area: http://www. gaslandthemovie.com/screenings

Thursdays PUC hearing for public input was a result of the intervention. PUC Administrative Law Judge Elizabeth Barnes, who presided, told residents they could testify Thursday or at evidentiary hearings to be held June 3 and 4 in Harrisburg, but not at both. The 12 residents who are intervening in the case could not testify on the record because they plan to speak up at the Harrisburg hearings, but they were allowed to make statements. They were also allowed to ask questions of people giving testimony. UGI experts did not testify. The company did release a statement that it welcomes input from residents and customers. A related company, UGI Energy Services, is building a pipeline to bring natural gas from wells in Wyoming County to local customers by way of the Transco interstate pipeline. The proximity of the supply would save UGI Penn Natural Gas customers a total of $11 million from Dec. 1, 2013 through Oct. 31, 2020. A main concern of residents was whether UGI Penn Natural Gas was using its utility status to help its sister company, UGI Energy Services, also get around local zoning. Its the backdoor way to get their compressor station, declared Raymond Metzo of UGI Penn Natural Gas, to applause.
