a) State Kirchhoffs current and voltage laws. b) Define the node and how to apply the nodal analysis in the circuit? Explain it. c) A voltage of 141.1sin1256t volts is applied across a 100 ohm resistor. Find i) The current and its frequency ii) The DC current in the resistor if it is fed through a half wave rectifier iii) The current after 30 degree after reaching positive maximum. d) Define the term i) Apparent power ii) Reactive power iii apparent power. e) Calculate current in all parts of the circuit shown

Explain the application of the following terms i) Phase sequence ii) Neutral point and neutral wire in three phase circuit

a) State and explain superposition theorem. Mention its limitation b) Draw the phasor diagram showing the following voltages V1= 100sin 500t V2= 200 sin(500t+ /3) V3= -50 cos(500t) V4= 150 sin(500t- /4) Find the rms value of the resultant voltage. c) Derive the expression of the instantaneous current drawn by capacitive circuit on application of a sinusoidal voltage and show that the current leads behind applied voltage by quarter of a cycle. d) Using nodal analysis to find the current in various resistors of the circuit.

e) Dicuss why the shape of the resonance curve depends on the Q of the coil.
f) What are the advantages of 3 phase system over single phase system?

Find the circuit components per phase of the load. b) A 10 mH coil is connected in series with a loss free capacitor to a variable frequency source of 20 V. the current in the circuit has maximum value of 0.2A at a frequency of 100kHz . Calculate a) The value of capacitance b) The Quality factor of the coil c) The half power frequencies c) Using superposition theorem. Find current in 5 ohm resistance

A coil of resistance 40 ohm and inductance 0.75 H forms parts of a series circuit for which resonant frequency is 65 hz. If the supply voltage is 250V, 50Hz. Find line current, power factor, power consumed, voltage across the coil e) State and explain thevenins theorem. For the circuit shown calculate the current in 1ohm resistance using thevenins theorem.

Using star to delta transformation determine the resistance between terminals a-b or 10 ohm resistor and total power drawn from the supply in the circuit.

Using this theorem find the value of load resistance R and also find the maximum power flows through it

a) Two batteries A and B are connected in parallel to a load of 10 ohm. Battery A has an emf of 12 V and an ad a Internal resistance of 2 ohm and battery B has an emf of 10 V and internal resistance of 1 ohm. Using nodal analysis, determine the current supplied by each battery and load current. b) Derive an expression for the instantaneous current drawn by a pure inductive and capacitive circuit on application of a sinusoidal voltage and show the current lags and leads the applied voltage by quater of a cycle. c) Discuss why? i)At Resonance the current is maximum in series circuit and minimum in a parallel circuit. ii) Power factor of the circuit in series and parallel resonance is both same

d) Draw the Nortons equivalent across AB and determine current flowing through 12 ohm resistor.

e) Find the rms value, average value and form factor of the voltage waveform shown in figure.

A series RLC circuit has 100 ohm resistor, 0.318 mH inductor. If v= 230sin wt and current i= 2.3 sin wt, find C, voltage across the inductor, power consumed.

b) Derive the expression for converting: i) Star to Delta network ii) Delta to Star network c) A non inductive resistance of 10 ohm is connected in series with an inductive coil across 200V, 50 Hz ac supply. The current drawn by the series combination is 10 A. The resistance of the coil is 2 ohm. a) A 3 phase, 500V motor load has a power factor of 0.4. The two wattmeters connected to measure power show the input to be 30kW. Find the reading on each wattmeter.

c) Find the value of current through 5 ohm resistance using superposition theorem.

a) For star connected system in a three phase circuit find the relation between line and phase voltage. A three phase, 400V supply is connected to a 3 phase star connected balanced load. The line current is 20A and the power consumed by the load is 12 kw. Calculate the impe4dence of the load, phase current and power factor. b) Find the value of R such that maximum power transfer takes place and also find the value of maximum power.

c) 4 Draw the connection diagram of two wattmeter method and derive the formula of power factor using two wattmeter method?
