REPORT

An institutional building is an established organisation especially dedicated to education,public service or culture. It can be either a college or an entire university . However, the location ,requirements and the time period of different courses is different for different colleges There are different types of colleges: 1. Architectural college 2. Engineering college 3. Diploma college 4. Dance college 5. Music college Each of these colleges have different locations ,different requirements and different durations of programmes.It can be either an open area or a closed classroom.

Architectural college Larger lecture halls for central lectures are preferably accomodated in this type of college.Architecture is a 5 year degree course.Separate rooms are provided for workshops,drafting and lectures. Since drawings,floor plans ,elevations are designed on computers so a separate computer lab is laso provided. For an architectural college ,the best location is to have an onfield working area within the college campus to allow the students to perform practical work. However a maximum of 40 seats are available in this course so a room of min. 60 X 30 is required for both drafting and for lectures .A multi prupose hall is also provided where the events are held in the college.A library is also required .

Latest innovations Latest innovations can be done as to provide all in one working drafting table which includes provision for laptop along with drafting table. Also lectures should be done using projectors . Engineering college An engineering college also known as B.tech college comprises of several courses all together i.e. ECE ( electrical communication engg.) or mechanical engineering. Engineering is a 4 yr course which includes 6 months training . Larger lecture halls are preferred here.Access to the lecture halls is best separated from research facilities with the shortest available route from outside to the back of the lecture theatre.

Research related laboratories mostly in smaller rooms with special equipments and additional practical spaces like

weighing and measurement rooms,centrifuge and autoclave rooms etc.

Latest innovations Projection screens can be designed as segmented surfaces to a straight back wall.Wall boards can be vertical sliding or manual or mechanical .Special clean room laborotories should be provided especially for dust free filtered air e.g. in microelectronics or for dangerous substances which should be handled very carefully .

Diploma college

A diploma college is almost similar to a degree college except that it has courses for a duration of 3 years.All the facilities are provided too.

Dance college

The requirements ,area and duration is different from a degree college.A dance college mainly requires large halls for the practising of the studentsSpecial stage halls are also there to perform rehersals.The duration of course depends on the type of dance the student wants to learn .However it may vary from 6 months to 1 year.

Music college

A musical college is another type of college where usually an open ground is used for teaching the students .However classrooms are also provided for indoor studying. Special rooms are provided to learn playing different types of instruments .A music college has a special music studio where songs are recorded.

Hence, all these different colleges differ from one another but some things will be found common in all of them. Like library, toilets, staff rooms etc.
