CAN YOU SING?

Be on the Royal Exchange Stage this Christmas

We are looking for 72 children aged 7 to 11 to form 3 choirs that will form part of our Festive Production: THAT DAY WE SANG by Victoria Wood and directed by our Artistic Director, Sarah Frankcom. If you can sing and are free for rehearsals in October and November and for the duration of the run from 5 December until 19 January then we would like to hear from you. This is an amazing opportunity to be on our world famous stage working alongside professional actors and creative team. The Production THAT DAY WE SANG is a big-hearted and nostalgic Manchester love story for all the family that has been reinvented and re-orchestrated for our unique space. In the summer of 69, insurance clerk Tubby and Secretary, Enid are back on stage at the Free Trade Hall. Granada Television are recording a documentary celebrating the forty years since they first stood there as children, singing their hearts out with fellow school pupils and accompanied by the Hall Orchestra. This is the humorous, warm and uplifting story of the two people who are trying to reconnect with who they were and who they could be now. How to get involved There will be a day of casting workshops and meetings on Sunday 21 July for children and their parents and carers to find out more about the production, the rehearsal process and the time commitment that will be required. Each workshop will last 90 minutes, the first hour of which will be led by Choir Master, Jeff Borradaile to assess the childrens singing in order to make a selection for the production. This will be followed by a 30 minute meeting with parents/carers where we will give detailed information, timetables and a further letter for all interested families. The casting workshops are FREE and open to all 7 11 year olds (theatre or drama experience is not necessary) but booking is essential. We will take up to 40 children for each workshop slot, and places will be booked through our Box Office on a first come, first served basis. Please note that if you just turn up on the day, we will not be able to accommodate your child.
