Titanium abutments are scanned by United and milled in titanium according to your preferences. Zirconia abutments are also milled in 100% Zirconia or your preference of Zirconia abutments with a Titanium interphase. Implant models are scanned, abutments digitally designed and then milled in Titanium at the different milling centres.

Zirconia Full Arch Restoration

With Prettau Zirconia from ZirkonZahn, United is able to make dentures from 100% Zirconia. For esthetics and yet risk free cases, we only layer the facials of the anterior teeth, leaving the occlusal in Zirconia therefore eliminating chipping and breaking of the porcelain.

Zirconia Hybrid Frame with Removable Crowns

A Zirconia bridge is considered a top quality type of bridge which is stronger, durable and visually appealing as compared to other types of bridges. A Zirconia bridge has a translucent appearance and is considered the closest to the real thing as it will get. Prettau Zirconia crowns can be up to five times stronger as compared to their porcelain/metal counterparts.

Whats the esthetic comparison of Zirconia vs. metal frame work?
ICE Zirconia framework is translucent and far superior to the opaque appearance of metal-ceramic.

Can margins be modified after try-in?

Margin extensions are possible by adding porcelain shoulders. If in doubt about margin definition, verify mock-up frame fit in situ.

How does cost compare with metal-ceramic?

Zirconia restorations are equal to or even less costly than metal-ceramic restorations.

How good is the fit of Zirconia restorations?

When milled correctly, Zirkonzahn systems produce a fit to one hundredth of a degree. The marginal fit is 20 m the same as gold alloy.

What about chairside adjustments of Zirconia restorations?

No problem, as long as grinding is performed under water cooling. Any resulting sharp edges must be smoothed over and rounded.

What is the strength comparison of Zirconia vs. metal-ceramic?

Zirconia is more fracture resistant but less flexible than precious metal.

What are the applications for Prettau Zirconia?

Prettau Zirconia is extra translucent. It is used for esthetic, 100% full-Zirconia restorations in conjunction with the specific Prettau colouring technique. Particularly suitable for implants and in cases of heavy occlusion (bruxism) to avoid chipping (absence of veneer porcelain).

What rotary tools are used for trepanation of Zirconia crowns?

Zirconia abrasives (i.e. diamonds) are recommended.

Will a Zirconia crown be compromised by trepanation (root canal treatment)?

Frame damage will not occur as long as suitably sharp tools are used in combination with water-cooling.

Our 3D scanners provide an electronic data file which represents a three-dimensional image of the models. This data is then used to design artificial dentition that will be milled in-house. We have the ability to scan your models or receive any STL file. We accept files from any intraoral scans.

Duraflex
 Duraflex is the most flexible partial with the lowest remake percentage.  DuraFlex is FDA approved.  Not nylon based, wont discolour, does not absorb bacteria like nylon based partials.  We can reline, repair, and add teeth to DuraFlex.  DuraFlex is the most easily adjusted partial we have used.  Available as a DuraFlex Metal Combo with Cast Vitallium Framework.  Place teeth directly to the ridge using metal backings and composite facings with Duraflex Framework. Available in four shades.

Valplast
Removable partial dentures are custom-made appliances that are generally affordable and require only a short time to make. In the past, removable partial dentures were only made with metal alloys and acrylic resins. Today Valplast is available to provide patients with comfortable, lightweight and metal free partial dentures. Valplast partials are also highly esthetic and virtually invisible so nobody has to know that you are missing any of your natural teeth. It was long thought that removable partial dentures had to be rigid to be effective. The innovation of the Valplast Flexible Partial allows the restoration to adapt to the constant movement and flexibility in your mouth. This is the underlying thinking behind Valplasts innovative flexible, removable partial denture. The flexibility, combined with strength and light weight, provides total comfort and great looks! EMA Snoring Device

The EMA (Elastic Mandibular Advancement) is a custom-made removable intraoral appliance created for noninvasive treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The appliance is designed to both advance the lower jaw (mandible) and open the bite to allow for less restricted airflow during sleep. EMA appliances help promote a deeper, more restful sleep by preventing snoring and relieving the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The EMA does not interfere with breathing through the mouth, even in cases of congested nasal passages. The EMA has many options for patient advancement with 9 strap lengths and 4 different elastic tension options. Non-restricted side-to-side (lateral) or front-to-back (protrusive movements of the jaw are possible while wearing the appliance due to varying elastic bands.

MDSA Sleep Appliance

How the MDSA works: MDSA oral appliance consists of two trays custom-made from your dental impressions, which fit over the upper and lower teeth. A hook mechanism attached to the upper tray attaches with a shelf in the tower tray and allows the jaw to be positioned forward, preventing the soft tissue of the throat and tongue from collapsing into the airway. Since snoring occurs when air is forced through narrowed or nearly closed breathing passages, positioning the jaw forward will enable you to breathe easily and to stop snoring. Designed for comfort, easy fit and simple adjustment, the MDSA is a breakthrough in the treatment of OSA and snoring. Its unique two piece design gives you amazing lateral and controlled vertical jaw movement for comfort when wearing the MDSAs. It can easily be adjusted while in your mouth.

Quiet Night Sleep Appliance

Quiet Night is a custom-fabricated dental device that moves the lower jaw into a forward position, increasing space in the airway tube and reducing air velocity and soft tissue vibration. Special connectors are attached to transparent flexible upper and lower forms. The forms are custom laminated with heat and pressure to the dentists model of the mouth. The fit is excellent and comfortable, permitting small movements of the jaw (TMJ) and allowing uninhibited oral breathing.

Dorsal Snoring Appliance

Originally designed as a nighttime TMD splint, the Dorsal Appliance has evolved into one of the most popular choices for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. The two piece construction allows for patient comfort and lateral jaw movement. The Dorsal fins on the mandibular appliance interface with inclines built into the buccal of the upper appliance to dictate a specific mandibular position. The appliance is traditionally fabricated with adjustable screws in the maxillary appliance to allow for further mandibular advancement. This appliance can be fabricated in a variety of materials including acrylic, dual laminate or thermal splint material.

Kobus Steyn is likely the most educated dental technologist in Atlantic Canada with over 37 years of dental experience. Kobus is a master Aesthetic LVI graduate, Dawson alumni, Pankey specialist and the first dental technologist to graduate from the Kois program in Canada. Kobus specializes in crown and bridge, implants and CAD/CAM technology. He has trained in Italy, France, Germany, the United States and the United Kingdom. Kobus is happy to assist in any challenging case you might have.

Dan - Denture Department

Dan Watter comes with over 20 years of experience in working with top prosthodontists in Atlantic Canada. Specializing in fixed and removable dentures, occlusion, splint therapy and sleep apnea. Dan believes that continuous education and staying on the cutting edge of technology is a key part of what we do and strives to stay current on the latest technology and techniques.

Lennox - Orthodontics
Lennox Seaforth graduated from dental technology in 1970 and started his career in London, England, where he worked for Kings College. He then came to Canada to manage the orthodontic department for the Canadian associated Laboratories. After 10 years he decided to start his own lab called L&D Orthodontics. After United Dental Lab took over L&D Lennox decided to join United to pass on all his experience to the rest of the group.

Ray Souchereau is a very approachable man with over 33 years of experience. Ray is the manager of the largest orthodontic department in Atlantic Canada, which imparts him with the capability to handle high volumes with quick turnaround times. Lisa - Splint Therapy Department

Lisa Young has extensive experience with, and is intimately familiar with the pros and cons of a multitude of TMO appliances. From providing optimal joint health and occlusal stability, to pain management and sleep apnea. Lisa can help you select the right appliance for your patients specific needs.

Karen - Front Desk

Before starting to work at the United Dental Lab on Oxford street, Karen Downey had worked the front desk at L&D for close to 3 years before it was purchased by United. Previous to this she worked as a dental receptionist for 13 years; although, she only worked in 2 different dental offices, she worked with many Dentists, Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants, many of whom she still calls friends . She knows how the dental office operates when it comes to lab cases. Karen prides herself on excellent customer service and always does it with a smile!
