We start with EMaj7, then go on to play higher notes on the piano while holding down the damper pedal. On bars three and four, the piano goes down a semitone to Eb11, which is the dominant seventh chord in this case Trio Intro 73 Samba Style Intro Major key This is another intro that leads to the II chord. In this example, the right hand is playing thirds and the left hand is playing voicings. The chord progression is Bb69, B69, to the Bb69 again, and then Ab13 to G7b13 with octaves on the Ab7 and G7 in the right hand. In bars three and four, the piano is playing in thirds, and then a C7b9 with an arpeggio leading to the set up bar. Trio Intro 77 Brazilian Samba Style Intro Minor key This intro is based on two chords for a Samba in a minor key. The two chords in Am are Am11 and Am7 for a few bars, then up to Bb Lydian, which is essentially a BbMaj7 with a 9, a raised 11th (which is an E natural) and a G. The right hand moves up the dorian scale starting on the 11th and ends on a trill while holding down the damper pedal. When the Bb Lydian chord comes, the piano is holding down the damper and picking some notes from the Bb Lydian scale and playing them in a rhythmic fashion.

This example uses shots with pushes in the left hand with the bass- it begins on the II in the key of Ab. Start with Bb9, then push into A9, then push into the I. The right hand plays a fill up to the II-V that leads to the IV and ends on an A7 alt. Trio Intro 85 Ballad Style Intro Major key This example leads to the IV chord. The left hand plays 4 note chords, while the right hand plays octaves with a parallel fifth in the middle. The chord progression starts at Eb (the root chord) to Eb7 which eventually leads to the IV.

Trio Intro 92 Ballad Style Intro Minor key In Dm, the progression is I-III-II-V, the chords are Dm69, F13, Em7b5 and A7 altered. Trio Intro 93 Ballad Style Intro Minor key This intro would be used to set up a ballad in 3/4 time. In Gm the progression is Gm7, F7 or F13, Eb7 then to D7, all descending. Trio Intro 94 Boogaloo Style Intro Major key This intro is based on straight eighths. In the key of C, the left hand plays C9 voicings for the first three bars, while the right hand plays some bluesy fills. On bar 4, the dominant note is played as octaves.
