Your Computer Component Insurance Cover

We understand that things can happen such as having your computer component accidentally damaged during the installation process, which is why we offer this valuable insurance to protect your item(s).

Your Insurer This Computer Component Insurance Cover is underwritten by Lloyds Syndicate 5820. Registered in England number 04434499. Registered Office: Jubilee Managing Agency Limited, Sidcup House, 12-18 Station Road, Sidcup Kent DA15 7EX. Jubilee Managing Agency Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and is entered on their register under number 226696. Types of Insurance & Cover Cover of the Computer Component but no additional equipment (e.g. accessories) you have just purchased against Accidental Damage (including water damage). The Insurance is optional and not a requirement of your computer component purchase. Significant Features & Benefits The insurance covers your Computer Component for a period of 28 days only commencing from the date you receive and sign for the safe delivery of the Computer Component against the above risk whilst being used in the United Kingdom by you as the person who purchased it. Significant and Unusual Exclusions or Limitations Like all policies, there are some things this insurance does not cover. Importantly these include: inappropriate use, theft, loss, breakdown, any claim arising from abuse, neglect or malicious damage, wear and tear or any other costs that are caused by the incident. Any claim made in excess of 48 hours of discovering the incident. The maximum liability for any claim cannot exceed replacement value of your Computer Component. You are required to take all reasonable precautions to protect the Computer Component against damage. If you require more information about these, or other exclusions and limitations you should read the Policy Document which is printed overleaf, particularly the sections headed Exclusions & General Exclusions. Please ensure you read these carefully and familiarise yourself with them.

Duration of Insurance & Right to Cancel This policy is for a period of 28 days only and is therefore not subject to statutory right of cancellation. This policy is non-cancellable and non-refundable. Scansure will collect the premiums at the time of purchase including any IPT. Claims Notification If you need to make a claim please contact Scansure Customer Services on tel: 0871 4724747 Please refer to the Claims Handling Information, which you will find below. Complaints If you wish to complain to the Insurer, or about the service you receive, you should, in the first instance, telephone or write to Scansure, PO Box 116, Ryde, PO33 2WX Tel: 0844 576 2278. If this does not resolve your problem you can take it to the Policyholder and Market Assistance, Lloyds Market Services, 1 Lime street, London EC3M 7HA to review your case. If you are still not happy you can contact the Financial Ombudsman Service by writing to South Quay Plaza 2, 183 Marsh Wall, Docklands, London E14 9SR or telephoning 0845 080 1800. This procedure is in addition to any other legal rights you may have to take legal proceedings. Compensation It is the duty of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme to ensure that a percentage of sums owed to policyholders (normally at least 90% of your insurance benefit) is paid if their insurance company is in liquidation and unable to pay. Such payments are subject to restrictions and not all policyholders may benefit. Further details are available on request from the Insurer.

All dealings with you in relation to the Computer Component Insurance are subject to English Law and will be expressed in English. Details of the law relating to the contract of insurance itself can be found in the Policy Document, which is printed overleaf.

What to do if your Computer Component suffers Accidental Damage including liquid damage within the period of insurance:

This Evidence and Your Insurance Schedule are Your full insurance policy documents. They are also evidence that You are covered under our Master Policy. The Master Policy is the contract that governs Scan Component Insurance and which we have agreed with the Insurer. A copy is available upon request. In return for payment of Your premium the Insurers will insure You in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in these documents and which are confirmed in the Master Policy.

THE INSURANCE Accidental Damage Cover. You are covered against the replacement cost of Your Computer Component if it is accidentally damaged from a sudden and unforeseen cause whilst in Your possession within the Territorial Limits during the Period of Insurance. The Maximum Liability of the Insurer will be the replacement cost of the Computer Component for one successful claim only during the Period of Insurance.

b. the radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or nuclear component thereof. 2. Any damage or liability directly or indirectly occasioned by, happening through or in consequence of war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power, or confiscation or nationalisation or requisition or destruction of or damage to property by or under the order of any government or public or local authority. 3 Any damage directly occasioned by pressure waves caused by aircraft and other aerial devices travelling at sonic or supersonic speeds. 5 GENERAL CONDITIONS Cancellation This policy is for a period of 28 days only and is therefore not subject to statutory cancellation and is non-cancellable and non-refundable. Reasonable Precautions You are required to take all reasonable precautions at all times to protect the Computer Component against damage. Fraud If You make a claim, it may prejudice such claim if any information You supply is false, fraudulent or otherwise incorrect. Claims In the event of any incident which may give rise to a claim, You must follow the Claims Procedure detailed below. Law The Parties are free to choose the law applicable to this Insurance Contract. Unless specifically agreed to the contrary this Insurance shall be subject to English Law CLAIMS PROCEDURE Please comply with the following procedures to obtain authorisation with the minimum delay. Failure to observe these procedures will invalidate Your claim.

DEFINITIONS The words or phrases described below shall have the following meaning wherever used in this Evidence. Administrator Citymain Administrators Limited, P.O. Limit of Liability The Insurers maximum liability for a successful claim during the Period of Insurance shall not exceed the maximum replacement value of Your Computer Component. Should Your original Computer Component no longer be available, the Insurer will replace it with the nearest functionally equivalent model. Period of Insurance The Insurance You have purchased shall be for a period of 28 days only commencing from the date You receive and sign for the safe delivery of the Computer Component. We will collect the premium at the time of purchase. The Insurance will be terminated immediately if We do not receive Your premium. Territorial Limits The United Kingdom and worldwide during the Period of Insurance. We/Us/Our Scan Computers International Limited, 56 Chorley New Road, Bolton, Lancashire BL1 4AP You/Your The person, company or partnership who has purchased Computer Component insurance as described in the Insurance Schedule provided by Us.

Contact Our Customer Service on 0871 4724747 no later than 48hours after Your Computer Component suffered accidental damage and quote your invoice number and the serial number of the Computer Component for which you are claiming. We will assess Your claim, and providing Your claim is valid, will authorise the replacement of the Computer Component as appropriate.

DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998 It is understood by You that any information provided to Us, the Administrator or the Insurer regarding You will be processed by them in compliance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998, for the purpose of providing insurance and handling claims, if any, which may necessitate providing such information to third parties. CLAIMS SERVICE It is always the intention to provide You with a first class service when You make a claim. However, if You are not happy with the service please in the first instance write to the Managing Director of the Administrator. If You are not satisfied with the response You may then ask the Policyholder and Market Assistance, Lloyds Market Services, 1 Lime Street, London EC3M 7HA to review Your case and ultimately You may contact the Financial Ombudsman Service South Quay Plaza, 183 Marsh Wall, London E14 9SR. PREMIUMS AND CLAIMS YOUR RIGHTS When handling premium payments from You that are due to the Insurers and when handling any claim You make, We acts as an authorised agent of the Insurers. This means that when You pay a premium to Us it is deemed to have been received by the Insurers and that any valid claim You make is not deemed to have been settled by the Insurers until You have actually received a replacement component. FINANCIAL SERVICES COMPENSATION SCHEME The Financial Services Compensation Scheme will usually cover at least 90% of Your insurance benefits if the Insurers become insolvent or are unable to meet their obligations. EXCLUSIONS This insurance does not cover: 1. Any claim arising from abuse, neglect or malicious damage. 2. The VAT element of any claim if You are registered for VAT. 3. Any breakdown or internal cause whatsoever or damage that occurs during the delivery of Your Computer Component. 4. Any action which invalidates the manufacturers warranty. 5. Any claim valid under the manufacturers warranty or which are subject to a manufacturers recall. 6. Any claim where no fault is found with Your Computer Component. 7. Any claim made outside of the 28 day Period of Insurance. 8. Theft ,loss, wear and tear, fire, explosion, flood, lightening, storms, or other bad weather conditions, 9. Cosmetic damage such as damage to paintwork, dents or scratches. 10. Caused damage caused by You failing to follow the manufacturers instructions 11. Any other costs that are caused by the event which led to Your claim, unless specifically stated in this Evidence.

GENERAL EXCLUSIONS 1 Any legal liability directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to or arising from: a. ionising radiations or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel.
