INTRODUCTION The Oxford Art Factory (OAF) is a two room, multifunctional venue that has re-shaped entertainment in Sydney. Inspired by Andy Warhols Factory in New York during the 60s, the venue creates a cultural focal point for international and local artists, providing them with a world-class platform from which to showcase their talents to an estimated weekly audience of over 5,000 people. The Oxford Art Factory is more than just an impressive space. It is an informed response to Sydneys desire for a dynamic new entertainment experience. From the interior fitout to bar operations, entertainment bookings to marketing every component of the OAF draws upon the experience of industry leaders to ensure that the atmosphere is second to none. CONCEPT The Oxford Art Factory aims to work as a three-tiered enterprise, comprised of The Gallery, The Live Art Space plus an additional art space called, The Cube. Each area of the venue has the capacity to work as a stand-alone entity whilst also operating as a combined and coherent business. As its name suggests, art provides the framework for this venue concept, and throughout it creates a showcase for visual art, performance art and live music. THE ROOMS
THE LIVE ART SPACE
(500 CAPACITY) The Live Art Space (or Main Room) is the largest space in the Oxford Art Factory and has the capacity to host up to 500 guests. The objective of The Live Art Space is to provide a multi-functional medium-sized live performance space to cater for international and local bands, as well as a dynamic program of alternate entertainment such as Burlesque, Vaudeville and Theatre. This room is perfect for events boasting entertainment such as live acts, presentations, DJs and installations.
AKA THE ART FACTORY Consisting of glass walls and a wooden top, The Cube is defined as the area immediately below the stairs at the entrance separating the two main rooms. The Cube is essentially known as the Heart of the OAF. Its totally unique space provides a platform for all manner of art all the way through to visual presentations using one of five data projectors available to you at the OAF. This 1010 space has housed static installations, live performance artists, collaborations with the City of Sydneys Art and About program, a live radio broadcast by Triple J even a tattooist making his mark on the (bravest) attendees. Resident artists over the years such as Jim Shirlaw with Exquisite Corpse, SandS Through The Hourglass and most recently, John A. Douglas with Free Fall, make up a vital component of the OAF.
THE CUBE
Riders: A standard complimentary drink rider is provided to all artists. OAF is happy to discuss your rider options. OAF does not provide food riders or buy-outs but can recommend some great places to order from.
The iconic ART WALL of OAFs Gallery Bar has captivated, amused, shocked and delighted the general public since Mark Gerber first envisaged it back in 2007. Our unique concept takes art out of the confines of the gallery space and launches it into the live music and bar scene. Incapable of being imitated at any other venue, the OAF art wall has become a much-loved fixture of the Sydney art scene and is usually changed every 6-8 weeks. Some incredible artists have brought their work to the wall, including Anthony Lister, She One, Michael Peck, Ben Frost, Phibs, Edward Woodley, Ken Taylor, James Jirat Patradoon, Heesco, Brett Chan, Beastman, Kill Pixie, Drew Funk and more. Both the Cube and Wall are available for interested artists as well as for functions/events. Feel free to speak to Mark Gerber about the potential to use either art space at your next event.
