COMPONENT Version:
Component Name SeeGull EX Virtual Comm port driver Version 1.4.0.2

SUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEMS Windows XP, U.S. version only, Service Pack 2 Windows 2000, U.S. version only, Service Pack 4

SUPPORTED FEATURES

This product serves as the USB device driver for the SeeGull EX scanner. It allows the scanner to access through the USB port via a standard serial interface.
IMPROVEMENTS N/A RESTRICTIONS in CURRENT RELEASE It's recommended to only use the EV_RXCHAR event for SetCommMask function when VComm gets initialized When using the overlapped IO, the GetOverlappedResult function has to be called after ReadFile when number of returned bytes is 0. ERROR_IO_PENDING is possible when use the overlapped I/O and ReadFile. It should be ignored. The PurgeComm function cannot be used during VComm initialization. Use it when VComm gets closed. Disable the scanner Ack/Nack protocol to ensure optimum performance. The unsolicited inquiry message will not be sent after the Reset command is issued. Instead, reinitialize VComm and such message will come automatically. Its recommended to reinitialize the scanner after soft reset.

STATE OF PREVIOUSLY KNOWN DEFECTS AND ISSUES N/A first release DEFECTS AND ISSUES FOUND AND/OR INTRODUCED IN THIS RELEASE The following items are known issues or problems identified in the previous release of this product. The VCP driver may introduce small delays (less than 1 second) in the data that comes from scanner (mostly when Ack/Nack is ON) (defect 1862). The VCP driver may lose data that has to be sent to scanner (this occurs rarely, and only when Ack/Nack is ON) (Defect 1863) The VCP driver must be reinitialized after a soft reset is sent to the scanner (Defect 1864). The installation of Virtual Comm Port driver may report unsuccessful results when the driver is functional. The first attempted use of the VCP will confirm it is operating. (Defect 1868).
