Let us see what you've got. Thanks, MagicBill Hi, Bill: Here's two of the prototype drawings for what I have so far. Please note that these were drawn up for a trailer client of mine in Canada, according to what he wants for his shows. I'll be coming up with standard dimensions on these in the future, but I usually do custom work for most of my clients; just like I do on my trailers. I've seen lots of comments on the forum about using duct tape or zip ties to hold the product to the racks; I prefer, as my client does, to use S.S. hose clamps..... no worries about heat making anything come loose in any way. Trying to keep a price point at a level to compete with China is always a challenge and, in many cases, it can't be done because of government subsidies over there. So, I choose to build better made products, and sell what I can. I'm also working on shell racks, but the prototypes will have to wait until after July 4th. The rack below are designed to accommodate various length and diameter candles, specific to what my client usually uses. The removable stands, in blue, are made to use 1/2" Stainless Steel ground spikes (not shown) if needed; two per side. The rack can be designed with more uprights to hold more product. The comet racks, below, are basically the same design and use most of the same type of materials. On both of these racks, I've designed them with a 12 degree tilt built into the end stands (away from the viewers), but this angle can be whatever the customer wants; within reason, allowing for safety considerations.

Below is another approach for comets but the design could be adapted for use with candles, or bundles of candles. The 3/4" ground pipe is steel (or stainless steel), and are long enough to slide more of the racks onto the pipe, depending on what the choreography calls for, and still provide adequate stability. This design is a takeoff of the one seen below this picture.

==================================================== Just for S & G's, I've included, below, VERY rough graphics of the racks I'm designing. None of the dimensions are finalized, but the concepts remain the same.... adjustable spread, all aluminum except for the fasteners, which are Stainless Steel wherever possible.... like I use on my trailers. My main concern on these racks are to have set dimensions, but which can be customized for the requirements of the local or state jurisdictions. IE: some states want one shell size between mortars, while some allow 1/2 the shell size.

I should have started this business over 30 years when I had my ideas about trailer and rack designs, but I've never been a big fan of all the hoops (and B.S.) one has to jump through for state and local governments. That was a mistake, but it is what it is. Right now I'm one of two companies that build custom pyro trailers, and I'm only one guy. My goal (at 61) is to be able to get into my own building; I'm limited to working about 6 months of the year on trailers, with the remaining time of the year on this stuff. Thanks for your interest and your time. If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to get in touch. Have a prosperous, and above all, Safe pyro season. John
