BAD WEATHER, BAD NEIGHBORHOOD,
GOD'S SPIRIT

We are having a pretty nice day today. It's about 55-60 degrees outside and even though it's awfully smoggy, it's not raining. It rained 8 days straight recently, causing alot of flooding, so a day without rain is a relief. Last week we had
more rain than our average yearly rainfall.

I expected the church attendances to be affected by our

winter weather, but they continue to grow. We are working with a plan of combined evangelistic campaigns and home teaching. The lastweekend of each monthwe have a threeday campaign with plenty of good preaching and singing, then during the month we follow-up our contacts. The first of our campaigns was held onJune 30th,July 1st,and 2nd. We had a high attendance of 130 which is a packed house for our

Alot of people get the idea that for some reason people are easier to win to the Lord in foreign countries. Let me be a little more specific aboutwherewe work andwho we

we have seen some tremendous changes. The night beforeour

last campaign began two drunks came to thechurch where we were working asking for money. I told them that I would be willing to buy food but had no money available togive to them for drinking. The next nightone of them came to the service
sober. I didn't even recognize him. He accepted Christ as his Savior. Last Tuesay as I was teaching him he told me that he
had been one of the two drunks. He also told me that drinking

I have a short note of family news to add. The girls were out of school in July for their two weeks of winter vacation. It was fun to have them at home, but they got rather bored since it rained almost every day. (When it rains here it is a freezing

In Chile we, have to buyshares in the schoolwhen we enroll a child,so if we change them we would have to do this again. It's just a matter that we need to pray about like I said. I'll say bye for today. Keep us in your prayers and we thank you so much for the loveyou'veshown to us.Ed and I just are so grateful for all our Christian friends back in the States and the concern they take in our work and personal lives. We just

Debbie, our "adopted" daughter, isgetting married in Feb. to a Chilean Christian. They will be going back to the States for the wedding and then coming back to Chile to live. The girls have loved having a big sister. We are real happy for her.
