But then, those shifts become much more clear, given what the Toronto band has endured during the four years since that introduction. Together since grade school, Brendan Saarinen (vocals/guitar), Eric Young (vocals/guitar), Derek Paulin (bass), Aaron Romaniuk (drums) and Josh Romaniuk (keyboards/percussion) are as much a family as a band. And during the writing of Mourning Trance, three members of that extended family - including both of Young's parents - passed away. So Mourning Trance became about loss and family, but also about coping and finding a way to enjoy life through all of the exhaustion. It's an album about waking up every morning, working eight hours, and still finding a way to celebrate surviving another day. In Still Life Still's case, that way was the only one the band knows - writing and playing music with best friends. The end result of that process is a weird, beautiful pop record, inspired by, and in honour of the brilliance and absurdity of real life. Those bittersweet experiences continue to be what drives the band and record. Mourning Trance is a wake for the living, and a celebration for all that's left. Project overview: While Townes Van Zandt may not be a household name, his work is known by music fans from every genre. Both on CD andfor the first time in decadeson high quality, 180 gram vinyl! The Late Great Townes Van Zandt was Townes Van Zandts sixth releasehitting the shelves in 1972. It built on the previous years High, Low And In Between, adding texture in both song and production. The album is probably best known for its Pancho & Leftythe song Emmylou Harris covered for 1977s Luxury Liner and which Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings would take to the top of the charts in 1983. Full of originals, as well as covers like Hank Williams Honky Tonkin, the album was Van Zandts perfect storm. With every element in place, its arguable that Townes would ever hit this creative height again. The Late Great Townes Van Zandt might be his masterwork. Originally released in 1981,Maruder was the bands fifth album, allowing founding father and frontman Ricky Medlocke to lead the band to what is generally regarded as the last truly great Blackfoot studio album. Produced, once again, by manager Al Nalli, and former Brownsville Station member Henry HBomb Weck, the sound is tight but loose, allowing the songs to amplify their southern rock linage to the max. Packed out with essential tracks, including the rampaging Good Morning and Dry County, the anthemic Payin For It, the reflective ballad Diary Of A Working Man and the epic Searchin. Theres even another guest appearance from Rickeys grandpa, Shorty Medlocke who blows a mean harp on Rattlesnake Rock n Roller.

Tomcattin, originally issued in 1980, was the bands fourth album, a record recorded with all the pep and vinegar that years spent in the wilderness might suggest. True Strikes, their previous album, had achieved a healthy level of achievement by placing them firmly on the map. However, musically it was Tomcattin that accelerated them into a league of their own. Produced once again by Al Nalli and Henry H-Bomb Weck (and featuring a guest appearance by Shorty Medlocke, band leader Rickeys grandpa) the record kicked and clawed its way out of the starting gate like a crocodile snapping at their heels.
