Dear Recruiter, Greetings! It has been our constant endeavour to understand the challenges and avenues in the business world. We equip our programmes, pedagogy, and students with the most cutting edge business tools and perspectives suiting the needs of the ever changing business environment. In light of this, our Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) programme has been created with the intention of preparing experienced professionals for senior management roles who can lead organisations in increasingly complex and conflicting situations. At the same time, as the world becomes increasingly global and emerging markets measure up to the developed economies, the dynamics of organisations and demands made on them change. In these shifting times, IIMB's EPGP has been created as a programme that enables students to derive the best from both the worlds. Our EPGP programme has been received with acclaim by the industry for its innovative course content, batch of bright students, and maturity of thought that they bring. While our very first batch students received a splendid placement, we are emphatic that the next batch of students will surpass the expectations of the recruiters with their keenness, skill, wisdom, spontaneity, and leadership traits. Dear Recruiter, With immense pride and satisfaction, I present to you the second batch of Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) - IIM Bangalore's one year fully residential programme in management, designed specifically for professionals with remarkable track records and a minimum of seven years of experience. The present batch of EPGP has been selected using rigorous criteria like an excellent GMAT score, a proven professional record commanding respect, and a thoroughly incisive interview which explored various dimensions of a student's personality. Thus we have assembled a group of sixty five bright future managers, drawn from all parts of the country and encompassing a wide spectrum of sectors. The EPGP course has been purposefully designed to be rigorous, demanding and fast paced so that students are taken out of their comfort zones, and are incessantly challenged to reflect deeply. The course is a journey in self-discovery as students are constantly made to delve deeper, and push themselves harder, exhorted by an experienced faculty, on critical and challenging problems from the business arena. Thus gradually, the course carves out leaders who think like individuals of action and act like individuals of thought. The present batch of EPGP has been equipped with all the keenness and tools required to confront the challenges of middle and senior management roles. Dear Recruiter, The Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP) at IIM Bangalore has in a very short time established itself as a strong program for post-experience management education. The exceptional quality of the program as well as the students was endorsed by the organizations that recruited from the EPGP program for several middle and senior level positions last year. This year too we have the privilege of presenting before you a graduating batch with an exceptionally rich experience in several areas including engineering, finance, retail, and manufacturing, with an average work experience of about 10 years. Prior to joining IIMB, several EPGP participants have already held senior management/leadership positions in their organizations in areas such as finance, consulting & strategy, engineering, product and project management, marketing, and HRM. With their extensive industry experience, complemented by the academic inputs from renowned faculty, we are confident that these candidates will indeed be a very valuable resource for your organization. The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) offered by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), fulfils a vital need of the corporate sector by providing world class management education to experienced managers. The pace of economic development and resulting competitive dynamics have caused firms to seek competent senior and mid level executives. Specifically, there is a rapidly growing demand for executives with the breadth and depth of knowledge and expertise essential for sustaining growth and enhancing competitiveness. This is a global phenomenon and the EPGP is designed to cater to this very need. Corporations across the world are grappling with the forces of globalization and change. The environmental complexity is deepened by the expanding influence of technology evolution and shifting socio-political equations. Firms which are attuned to these realities are acutely aware of the need to reinforce their capabilities in order to effectively tackle the challenges and remain competitive. The frontlines of these battlefields are increasingly being manned by both mid and senior level executives. Undoubtedly, organizational sustenance and survival is directly dependent on the caliber, competence and capabilities of these executives. Essentially, while deep functional expertise is a prerequisite for such executives, their effectiveness is contingent upon the ability to perceive and understand a situation from multiple perspectives. The EPGP bridges this gap by virtue of its selection criteria, curriculum design and delivery. The Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP) is a fully residential one year post graduate program which prepares students for mid and senior level management roles. The program offers general management education imparted by a remarkable faculty. The experience profile of the current batch of sixty five students ranges from seven to twenty four years who have substantial functional experience and domain knowledge. The learning experience is significantly enhanced by peer learning enabled both by formal and informal mechanisms. The mix of experienced managers, distinguished faculty and superior curriculum is a potent combination that equips the student with knowledge and skills needed to excel in an increasingly complex business environment.
The EPGP Class of 2010-11 comes from a variety of backgrounds, such as IT services, consulting, operations, and even defence. Almost everyone has considerable international exposure. I would rate this Class high on analytical ability. The students worked extremely hard on case presentations and projects. The understanding and insights they have acquired in the Programme, e.g., making sense of financial statements, budgets and costs, should enable them to appreciate and resolve the conflicting pressures on a business enterprise. I believe that the students will be able to contribute to their prospective employers in a superior way by combining their new learnings with their past organizational experience.

The Faculty
The faculty body of the institute comprises academicians highly regarded in their fraternity and are, arguably some of the best minds of the country. The institute has departments of Economics, Strategy, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations Management, Information Systems, Quantitative Methods, Public Policy, Public Systems, and Entrepreneurship, encompassing the entire gamut of management education. The faculty members maintain strong industry connections by virtue of their research orientation supplemented with consulting assignments. As a result, the curriculum design is closely aligned to needs of the industry. Many professors from various departments in IIMB are authors of popular management books and have collaborated with world renowned authorities on numerous articles and publications. I found the EPGP Class of 2010-11 extremely inquisitive, energetic and hard working. The Students
The vibrant & diverse student community is the life blood of IIMB. The students chosen for EPGP have made splendid contributions in their respective sectors prior to arriving in IIMB and are gifted with leadership skills to be at the forefront of business. A high GMAT score, a remarkable professional experience of minimum seven years, a persuasive statement of purpose, and a drilling interview ascertain that the students chosen are well equipped for the rigour of the programme, and the challenges of the future. The students represent a range of sectors including manufacturing, automobile, banking, IT, retail, health care, media, consulting, the defence forces and PSUs. The diversity of experience enriches the discussion and learning in the class. The faculty finds interaction with EPGP students absorbing, energetic, and collaborative.

EPGP: An International Curriculum

The defining feature of the program is its exhaustive curriculum. The content is customized to the needs of experienced managers and is highly relevant while being challenging. The faculty regularly revises the curriculum to reflect industry & environmental trends. In addition to the core courses, there is a broad array of electives to choose from. There is ample opportunity to select function specific electives based on one's preferences. The subject area departments have multiple faculty with specialized focus; thus providing the opportunity to gain deep functional knowledge. The method of instruction is primarily case based, supplemented with exhaustive subject matter literature and texts. The cases help students immerse in the realities of business and feel its dilemmas, challenges and risks. The combination of expert faculty, students, and superior curriculum design provides the basis for rich and rewarding learning experiences. Most learning activities are group-based and include project work. Thus, there is a judicious mix of theoretical rigour and application orientation which help in laying a firm foundation of knowledge gained through "learning by doing".
Seminars: A Realm Beyond Management

The seminar series provides a platform for interfacing with practitioners from diverse sectors including corporate, non-profit, regulatory agencies as well as accomplished speakers from the fields of science, arts, spirituality, medicine, etc. The aim is to provide exposure to a variety of perspectives and inculcate an appreciation for all realms of education, business, and life. In addition to enhancing classroom instruction, the seminars make students sensitive to the prevailing trends in different sectors.

The international study course is the last of the core terms and includes a 15 day tour of a major economy. The visit schedule is customized by IIMB in partnership with one of the leading business schools in the country to be visited. During the week preceding the tour, subject matter experts and industry captains are invited to provide a multi-dimensional overview; this provides the context for the visit. The schedule is so designed as to provide holistic exposure to the economic, political, socio-cultural and business environment of the country visited. The present batch of EPGP visited South Korea for its international immersion which was organized by KAIST Business School, Seoul. As part of the programme, the students visited the plants of LG, Doosan, GM Daewoo, SK Telecom, and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and interacted with the top level executives of these companies. The visits to plants were augmented by the classroom sessions conducted by faculty of KAIST, and professionals from firms like McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Korean Exchange Bank, and LG. Comprehensive Project
The comprehensive project provides an opportunity to integrate learning from the program and apply it to a real management problem or an impending opportunity in a business sector. The project is executed under the guidance of a faculty member and is executed over a period of six months. The project can also be themed upon bridging the social divide, researching public policy schemes like NREGA, recommending strategies for inclusive growth of India, and various other social challenges.

Recruitment Process
Pre-placement Talks
The Pre-placement talk is a platform for interaction between the company and the students. The representatives of the company share the profile of the company, key aspects of its business, work environment, and opportunities available to students. The presentation is followed by a Q&A session where students interact with company officials to get a better understanding of the company and potential roles. A typical pre-placement session is scheduled for 90 minutes. In view of the academic calendar of the students, the sessions are scheduled between 4pm to 6pm on weekdays, and between 8am and 8pm hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Interested students apply to the company through the placement committee. A detailed resume is submitted by the student as part of the application process. EPGP students have substantial work experience and have been inducted through a rigorous selection process. We therefore follow a grade and GMAT score non-disclosure policy.
Final Placements
Final placement interview gives the company and the student an opportunity to discuss the role in detail and make the right choice. The final placement process is conducted over an extended period of time beginning in the first week of November. This gives the companies ample time for customized selection processes that may be required, given the lateral hiring process.
Offers and Acceptance

The company can make an offer to the student after the final interview. The offer should include details of role, location, remuneration, and other relevant terms and conditions required by the candidate to make a decision. The acceptance of offer is governed by placement rules of the institute. At the end of the process the decision of the student is conveyed to the company by the placement committee. With this process, our intent is to make the placement process conducive to both the companies and the students. We will consider any additional company specific requirements over and above the process outlined.
