Description
PM4Data is a powerful, process-centric, cross platform file and data transfer and integration application that moves and integrates files and databases on distributed and legacy systems across the enterprise. PM4Data handles all details of assured and reliable file movement over a WebSphere MQ network. Customers with existing WebSphere MQ implementations can instantly leverage existing topology and availability. PM4Data is an excellent replacement for FTP based solutions as well as other third party file movement solutions which are expensive, difficult to maintain, and lacking in integration capabilities. PM4Data is currently deployed in thousands of locations with significant installations in financial, retail, government, and manufacturing based industries.
Components of PM4Data

Workbench Provides an environment for developing any customized processing. The Workbench is based on the Eclipse Open Source Project and offers a robust, state-of-the-art environment for developing customized logic using the built in ECMAScript complaint scripting language called XMScript. These customized pieces of script can be made to run at any of the product s exit points allowing you to extend PM4Data s integration capabilities without limits. Exit Service Responsible for running PM4Data exits, customer provided scripts that can be integrated into a transfer request. The Exit Service can be accessed from any exit point in the transfer process. It receives an XML message directing execution. The message contains the name of the script to be run and the entry point that should be used. It returns the result element in the workflow object to PM4Data. PM4Data allows exits that extend processing at six points in the transfer process:

Auditor A comprehensive platform which provides end to end management, status tracking, logging and auditability of the solution. Command and Control Center Offers a single source for most information required to use PM4Data. The Command and Control Center interface is made available by components installed as part of the Enterprise Server. This component provides an interface for viewing status; creating, saving, and submitting requests; managing user access to the Web interface; and viewing reports.

Before the Coordinator starts the transfer request After the Coordinator receives information about the completed transfer request Before the Source Node (Sender) starts the transfer After the Source Node (Sender) completes the transfer Before the Destination Node (Receiver) gets the transfer After the Destination Node (Receiver) gets the transfer

The Control Center can be accessed by any modern Web browser including Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Firefox. From the Control Center, you can see the following information or perform the following tasks:
---

File Transfer Service (FTS) Sends and receives files, based on direction from the Coordinator.

A single FTS can both send and receive files. Each host that performs transfers must have at least one file transfer service running. Multiple instances of the file transfer service can run on a single host and you can add more as necessary.

Ping nodes to assure that they are functional View end-to-end status for each transfer using the Coordinator (Manager) node. Specify users and their permissions. Create, save, and submit transfers. Group transfers or destinations together to allow multiple transfers in a single logical unit. Set up and manage directory monitoring in which files that conform to specific rules are automatically transferred when they appear in a directory. View reports that provide information about success and failure rates and transfer throughput.

----

--

Fix-It Service Errors are routed to a centralized service where the response to the condition can be automated through scripted exits. Any condition which is not handled in an automated script is routed onto a Web-based interface where an operator needs to repair/resolve the issue and resume the transfer at any point in the process or optionally cancel the transfer request. User Services Provides an interface between the Command and Control Center Web interface and the user database. The user service governs the management of user account information. XML Interface Allows the creation of the native transfer request XML and places it on a queue for execution.

--

Command Line Interface Provides the ability to submit requests and Ping components to assure they are working. Coordinator Directs all file transfer activity. Receives transfer requests in XML format from the Command and Control Center, the Command line, or the XML interface. Directory Monitor Service Allows you to monitor a specific directory for a specific file. If the file resides in the monitored directory, PM4Data uses a specified transfer request to send the file to the specified destination. Directory Monitor transfers can use exits and use the Auditor to report status.

Major features of PM4Data

Web-based graphical Command/Control Center provides central administration for status, audit, security, and reporting.

Request repository Intervention for active transfer problems

--

Web-based GUI to correct and retry or fail active transfers with problems Programmable correction or failure of active transfers with problems.

Platform and protocol transparency Delivers network and platform independence by exploiting the WebSphere MQ technology PM4Data. Multiple interfaces Supports a variety of eternal interfaces for integration across a wide range of environments. Multi-file support Provides the ability to transfer entire directories and PDS/E members as a single file transfer. Robust restart and recovery Full recovery capabilities from point of failure provide only one delivery of information, even after system and network failures. Extended integration points Strategically placed exit points are available for externalizing information and processes. Message-to-file and file-to-message A toolkit is provided for customers to have the ability to design solutions for file-to-message and message-to-file integration. Parallelism PM4Data can process multiple simultaneous data transfers and can broadcast single or multiple files simultaneously over multiple channels to multiple recipients. Dynamic routing Data can be automatically rerouted around damaged or unavailable connections. Centralized monitoring and administration All transfer and integration activities can be monitored from a central point. Status messages can be routed to any node as desired. Security user replaceable modules that allow enterprises to customize implementation of security. Exits Process Manager for Data offers a set of strategically placed exits to enable non-intrusive and flexible customization of data flow.
