Montage
Description: A motivational photomontage created using masks in Adobe Photoshop. Date: 6/1/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process: For this project I started the process by finding a quote that I liked and could possibly use for future purposes. Then I found a picture of Elder Richard G. Scott because its a quote by him and then I also found a picture of the Salt Lake City Temple. I cropped the image of the temple down to the size that I needed that still had the temple in it off to one side. Then I applied a sharpening filter to it so that the temple looked sharper. Then I cropped the picture of Richard G. Scott to the size that I needed. I then proceeded to add a mask to Richard G. Scott to make him blend into the image of the Temple. I used the Spot Healing tool to remove a lamppost that was positioned awkwardly in the image that was just distracting. I lightened up the clouds a little so that I could put the text in front of them. I feel that the image has good repetition and that it is balanced really well. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop CS5

Logos
Description: Three logo variations for the same company. Date: 6/8/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process: When I started working on this project I thought about what would go well on a logo for a photography company and then realized that cameras and camera equipment would look good in the logos. I started out with the top one making the camera with the rectangle tool and the ellipse tool to make the shapes that I needed in order to make the camera then I found some fonts that look good together to add the name. The second one I used the rectangle tool with the rounded edges and then used the ellipse tool to make the circle, after that I traced the aperture logo with the pen tool because I really like the aperture logo and it has a ton to do with photography. Then I made it big enough to add the words onto the rectangle. For the third logo I found an image of a studio light and umbrella that I traced using the pen tool, then I went and found fonts online and added the text to the logo and resizing the studio umbrella to fit better with the text. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator CS5 How the logo represents the company: These logos represent the company because they all have something to do with photography and all have the company name.

Letterhead
Description: A letterhead that I created to brand a company. Date: 6/15/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process: I created the logo by using the shapes tool and the pen tool to trace in the Aperture logo in Adobe Illustrator. When I finished the logo I went into Adobe InDesign and used the File- Place option to insert my logo into the two documents that I had opened. I positioned the logo in the upper left hand corner of the document and I put my name and information is the upper right hand corner with a 9pt font. I made sure to keep both at least .5 away from the edges. I made sure to line up the logo and the header so that they were uniform and didnt look sloppy. I added a line at the bottom of the page. Then I added a large version of the aperture sign as a watermark and made the opacity 3% in the lower right hand corner so that it was visible but wouldnt distract from the text that would be put above it. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator & Adobe InDesign How the logo represents the company: These logos represent the company because they all have something to do with photography and all have the company name.

Business Card
Description: A letterhead I created to brand a company. I took the rectangle tool and made a 2x3.5 box to outline the business card and then I added the logo in the upper left hand corner and copied the header from the letterhead into the lower left hand corner and changed the font size to 8pt. then I added a small version of the aperture sign to the lower right hand corner positioned like it was in the letterhead. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator & Adobe InDesign How the logo represents the company: These logos represent the company because they all have something to do with photography and all have the company name.

Brochure
Description: A two sided (Duplex) folding brochure. Date: 7/13/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process: I set up the brochure like the one that we used in class for the activity because it was simple and I liked the layout. I chose the topic of Chase Lawrenson Photography because I already had the logos and I really wanted to display my own work for this project instead of using images from the internet. I decided to keep the brochure white with no designs in it to keep it clean because I wanted to keep it simple. I figured that the images would work well enough to draw people into the layout of the brochure. I used my own photos for this project so that it would have a personal feel to it and it would display my work for whoever looks at the brochure. For the text wrap on the image I used Photoshop and followed what we did for the activity so that it would turn out how I wanted it. I turned the camera sideways so that people would have a different perspective when looking at the camera. I created the logo in Illustrator for one of the other projects and used it for this project because it worked and looked good. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

Flier
Description: Black & White promotional flier to promote a graduate leadership conference. Date: 5/11/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process: The first thing that I did to make this flier was make four potential sketch for my flier. Then while I was using InDesign I used the sketches as a basic start to my layout. I used the picture and Gradient bar under the title for contrast. I used the text that has the information about the location and time as repetition. I put emphasis on one of the words in the title by making it larger than the rest of the words in the title; it gave it good contrast and allows it to become a good focal point. I left a lot of white space and kept the body copy as small as I could. I was given the Image, logo, and content for this flier. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe InDesign

Event Ad
Description: For this assignment I created a full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser using Microsoft Word and a scanner without using anything else. Date: 5/18/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process: First I scanned the image of Yoda from my Star Wars complete saga Blu-ray box set and then used the tool in word that cuts the image so that it is just the shape of the main item in the image, in this case it was Yoda. Then I found the Star Jedi font for the heading and then the Episode I font for the main body, both of which are Star Wars fonts that I had on my computer. Then I added the 2 black triangle shapes leaving the bar that runs diagonally which I then added a bar in that space that is the same color as Yoda. Program(s) / Tools used: Microsoft Word, Epson Scanner, Preview (part of Mac OSX)

Web Page
Description: A web page that I designed to show off the logo that I created for myself. Date: 6/29/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process: I created this web page using only TextWrangler. Before starting this project I had seen some HTML/CSS before because my friends like to code and my cousin is a programmer for Apple and I have seen him work while we were at family stuff before. I found the website http://www.W3.org to be very useful for trying to figure out how to code my website properly so that it would validate. After I went through and organized the code in the HTML file I went and resized my logo so that it would fit the specifications of the website. Then I proceeded to insert it into my website and change the rest of the text to the requirements that we had for the website. I decided to keep my website black and white so that it would go along with my logo because there isnt any color in my logo. I also changed the fonts so that they werent the basic fonts that were already on the CSS sheet that was provided for us. I also figured out how to center my title and logo in a valid way so that they werent left aligned. Centering was the hardest part of the project for me, I had trouble figuring out how to do it. Programs/Tools Used: TextWrangler and Adobe Photoshop CS5

Imaging
Description A personally taken photograph that has been edited/formatted using Adobe Photoshop. Date: 5/25/13 Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 01 Eric Lybbert Process I took this photo of the flowers using my Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR Camera. I opened the photo in Photoshop and selected the all the flowers but the main one and instantly went to the filters and used the Solarize filter that changed their color a little. Then I went and selected everything in the image but the main flower and the solarized flowers and I played with the rest of the image changing the Hue and the Saturation. Then I cropped it to be 6X6 inch square. Programs/Tools Used: Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR Camera Adobe Photoshop
