Adobe Photoshop Date: July 13 . 2013 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Eric Lybbert Objectives: Setup and create a two sided brochure.Use Adobe Illustrator Photoshop and Indesign all together. Use paragraph styles in InDesign. Process: The foundation of a brochure is the layout. I looked on google and found a lot of neat options, but many were to involved for my needs. I settled on a simple bifold. I used the images I created for my website in Adobe InDesing and then added two extra from the web. I also took 2 from the web and edited one in Adobe Photoshop. The other I placed in a box to show a piece of the image. I took pages from my site and used them as headers for my brochure. Finally, I added the text I had written and placed it in around the images. The background is a texture made partially transparent with a blueish grey background.

Programs: Microsoft Word Date: May 18 . 2013 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Eric Lybbert Objectives: Find, scan and import a high quality image. Creat a full bleed design. Edit images and text in Microspft Word. Process: I started the project by brainstorming a fundraiser idea and came up with a run. Needing to scan an image into our project I became familiar with scanning and using scanners. I learned the principles of pixels and their relation to scanning and image sizes. After I selected an image to fit the the idea I scanned it, I created a rough layout of how the ad would look. I created the image to be very unified in colors, have a clear section of white space, and professional with repetition.

Process: I started this project with taking a wide variety of shots practicing basic principles such as 3rds, foreground focus, and background focus. To show more than photographic abilities I opened my selected image in Adobe Photoshop. To fit the requirements I cropped the image to 66 with a 150ppi. I then selected the flower, stem, and leaves, inversed the selection, and desaturated the background. I then added a filter called Diffuse Glow on everything but the flower.

Flier
Description: This is a black and white flier to advertising to graduating seniors a Leadership ConferencePrograms: Date: May 11 . 2013 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Eric Lybbert Objectives: Use design principles and appropriate typography. Use basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Process: I began this project by drawing basic sketches to get an idea of the look of the flier and to know my restrictions. The flier was meant to grab the attention of graduating seniors and provide them with the information for the conference. I was given a small selection of images to use along with a logo and a general text to go with it.Taking the sketches I started applying them on Adobe InDesign to clean and hone the look. My main desires were to make intent of the flier clear, professional, and attractive with the emphasis of alignment, repetition, and contrast. Since this was not a flier for me, I ran it through multiple reviews and edits before this final draft.

After I added a sharpening filter to the flag and desaturated it I added the quote and a slight panted shadow behind the text to help it stand out against the white stars and stripes.

Web Page
Description: This is a web page created to present a business logo. Programs: Notepad++ . Adobe Illustrator . Adobe Photoshop Date: June 29 . 2013 Course: Comm 130 Instructor: Eric Lybbert Objectives: Size an original logo for the web. Write appropriate web content describing the process of creating the logo and the targeted audience. Design a webpage using HTML and CSS. Process: I created this web page using Notepad++ to do the coding, Adobe Illustrator for the logo, and http://www. W3.org to validate the HTML code. It was the first time I have ever used all of these programs together. Having a basic HTML file to get started I decided to write down some of the basics I wanted to include. One of the things I changed was I created a button at the bottom that takes the viewer to my website. Other changes include changing the color of text and body, adding a texture to the background, changing fonts, importing fonts, and adding the logo I created.

Web Page 2

Wave Web Accesibility Tool Objectives: Providing a free service for BYU-I students to buy and sell books and to gain experience in all the areas of free-lancing web creation. Process: I started this project by going to gomockingbird. com where you can create free high qulity wireframes. I settled on a very simplistic layout and the rough elements of the page. I then used colorschemedesigner.com to come up with a powerful color scheme. Over time I fine tuned my design and started programming. I included CSS and JQuery to my HTML. I used Adobe Illustrator to create the 3 button images on the page and Adobe Photoshop for the picture. I ran the page through W3 Code Validator to make sure the coding was in order and through Waves Web Accessibility Tool to optimize its accessibility. I shared it on Google Docs until I replace my rexburgbooks.com pages with it.
