Dont Be Too Intelligent

This is classic. Last week, I was introduced to two guys, both friends serving in Light of Jesus, both members of the TrulyRichClub, and both investing in the stock market. Guy A was an old hand in the stock market world. Eight years before joining the TrulyRichClub, he was already trading. His success was spotty. Most were failures. But the trading bug is a hard habit to kick. So even when he was already introduced to our way of investing, he didnt follow it totally. More like half-half. Fifty percent of his money was invested our way using SAM. And 50 percent of his money was used to buy exciting penny stockssomething Ive ALWAYS been warning people never to get into. On the other hand, Guy B was a total neophyte in the stock market. Would never have touched it by a 10-foot pole had it not that his preacher (me!) kept talking about it. So for one year now, hes been diligently investing using our system. Because he didnt feel as intelligent and savvy as Guy A in the stock market, Guy B just followed what I told him to buy. Result? Guy A got burned in his penny stocks. Thankfully, his SAM Stocks did welland he broke even last year. His score? Zero percent. Guy B however grew his money by 25 percent last year. Hes very happy. I urge you: Dont be too intelligent. Dont wander away thinking youre better, wiser, and luckier. Just follow. May your dreams come true,

Bo Sanchez

A Quick Lesson on Diversification

By Mike Vias Last time, we talked about the saying timing is everything and how this does not apply in long-term investing success in the stock market. This time around, Id like to talk to you about a principle that I believe will be helpful in our investing in the stock market. That principle is: Dont put all your eggs in one basket. Im sure youve heard this phrase countless of times before. Its an idiomatic phrase that means one should not focus his or her resources solely on one thingwhether it be an opportunity, an avenue of success, a person, an investment, etc. If that thing that you place all your bets on fails you, then youre left brokenleft with no eggs. This principle applies to a lot of facets in life (investing, farming, decision-making, etc.) and it prompts us not to pin our hopes in one course of action, but rather have several options to ensure success. Now, this holds true as well in the world of stock market investing. In this realm, such a principle is called diversification. Similarly, diversification is a technique that lessens risk by allocating investments in a variety of financial instruments, industries, companies, and other classifications. The goal of diversification is to maximize profit by investing in different avenues and have several vehicles of growth. This is an important component of reaching long-term financial goals while keeping risk at a minimum. For example, consider an investment that consists of only one companys stock. If that company suffers a downturn, then your whole portfolio will be affected negatively. It will feel the full brunt of the decline. However, by splitting your investments in several stocks, in different industries, you can reduce the potential risk to your portfolio. This will also ensure you with steady long-term growth for your investment. So if you look closely on our SAM Stocks - our portfolioyou can see we are diversified: BDO banking FPH power generation, property, manufacturing, and energy services DNL consumer JGS property, consumer, airlines, industrial, banking, telecommunications MBT banking MER power distribution and generation MPI infrastructure, healthcare, utilities and power MWC utilities SMPH retail and consumer Therefore, ideally you should have these same companies under your portfolio or at least buy 2 or 3 of them regularly every month, as long as they are below their Buy Below Prices. By doing this, you are practicing diversification with your SAM investment. This gives you a good protection against risk, consistent growth for your portfolio, and a greater potential profit at the end LONG-TERM STOCK MARKET SUCCESS! So keep on buying every month and dont just buy only one stock. Invest regularly with several SAM Stocks so that you will be diversified. Recently, Bro. Bo advised us on the inclusion of two more new companies that will be included in the SAM Stocks, namely BDO and MWC. For this issue, Id like to give you a brief background on each as a refresher and discuss more in detail on the next.

BDO Banco de Oro Unibank (BDO) is a universal bank that provides a wide range of corporate, commercial, and retail services. BDO is a member of the SM Group of Companies, one of the Philippines largest conglomerates with business interests in commercial centers, retail and merchandising, financial services, and real estate development and tourism. As of the end of the 1st quarter of 2011, BDO is the largest bank in terms of assets, loans, and deposits; while second in trust assets and capital. It had a total of 731 branches and offices as well as 1,436 ATMs. Our Target Price for this is P112, while our Buy Below Price is P89.60. As of market closing March 27, 2013 it is doing P89.75. Therefore, we have to wait for it to go below P89.60 to start buying again. MWC Manila Water Company, Inc. is the company that provides water delivery and sewage and sanitation services under the terms of a 25-year concession agreement with MWSS. It caters to approximately five million people in the East Zone of Manila, comprised of residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Under the concession agreement, MWSS granted the company the use of MWSSs land and operational fixed assets and to produce and treat raw water, distribute and market water, and collect, transport, treat dispose, and eventually re-utilize wastewater. The East Zone encompasses 23 cities and municipalities and spans approximately 1,400 square kilometers. The company is confident that billed volume still has room to grow. Management is targeting to add one million customers every five years. It is also seen that the economic growth in the Philippines will boost water consumption from existing customers. Furthermore, Manila Water boasts of an excellent track record, wherein it has consistently surpassed key performance indicators, and managed costs. Aside from its East Zone operations, MWC already has operations in Clark, Laguna, Boracay, and Vietnam. As a result, revenue contribution of operations outside of the East Zone has grown rapidly, reaching P734 million in 2012, double what it made in 2011. Our Target Price for MWC is P44. Buy Below Price is P38.26. Market Price went high quickly last trading day. Thus, we have to WAIT until it goes back below P38.26 to buy MWC.
