May 9,2013 Dear Human Resources officer, It is a pleasure to write a letter in support of Rodolfo Ramos's application to the Cross functional Trainee Program in Central Europe East. I first became acquainted with Mr. Ramos about six months ago when he applied for a marketing internship at the Special Collections and University Archives. I was immediately taken by his resume, which not only highlighted impressive experience, but also a dedication to the work. Upon meeting him, I was even more impressed: Mr. Ramos has the sort of winning personality and communication skills that make him stand out among his peers. He is highly motivated and passionate about marketing and it is clear that he uses these qualities to produce results. The task we set before Mr. Ramos was to learn about our marketing needs, propose a marketing plan, and implement it. As a small department on a very large campus, we struggle to connect with our undergraduate students. We have made progressive over the past few years, but we know we could improve even more with the right approach. Mr. Ramos proposed to focus on our social networking efforts and worked hard to promote our Facebook page as a place where students can learn about our activities and collections. Despite the short timeframe, we were very pleased with Mr. Ramos's results. Not only did he increase our Facebook posts and traffic, he also employed statistical tracking reports to target our key audience and communicate more effectively (and directly) with them. All in all, Mr. Ramos was a wonderful addition to our team. He is a self-starter with a great deal of energy, creativity, and drive. He responds well to feedback, but is also incredibly productive without requiring a lot of direct supervision. I am confident that Mr. Ramos will excel at any task he sets out to achieve and I believe he would be a wonderful asset to the Cross-functional Trainee Program . Please feel free to contact me if I can provide any additional information about Mr. Ramos's contributions to our department; I would be pleased to answer questions or offer more details. I can be reached at dkovacs@library.umass.edu or (413) 545-2784.
