Current line-up
Jerry Cantrell - guitars/vocals Mike Inez - bass (ex-Ozzy Osbourne, ex-Black Label Society, ex-Jerry Cantrell, Skin On Skin) Sean Kinney - drums (ex-Jerry Cantrell) William DuVall - Vocals (Comes With The Fall)

Former/past member(s)
Layne Staley (R.I.P. April 5, 2002 from an apparent drug overdose) - vocals, guitars on occasion (Mad Season) Mike Starr - Bass on Facelift and Dirt (see also Sun Red Sun) Nick Pollock - Lead Guitars (1985-1986) (My Sister's Machine) Wes Armstrong - Vocals (1985-1986) Scotty Olson - Guitar (session member on the unplugged show) At some point in 1986 or so, Jim Sheppard (Sanctuary (US), Nevermore) was in the band too playing bass.

Additional notes
The band was called Sleze, Alice N Chains, Diamond Lie and then Alice in Chains. Mike Starr was the longtime bassist before Mike Inez. Contrary to popular belief, Alice In Chains aren't just grunge. Among all the bands involved with the whole American grunge take over, Alice In Chains have always been the most metallic. Layne Staley passed away due to an overdose of heroin and cocaine in 2002. The band has reformed for a few festival dates and a possible tour. While there has been some talk of a new album, at the moment no details about it are known.

Additional notes
Many credit Macabre as being one of the first bands to play a style of music which would influence death metal. They weren't really a death metal band themselves but their lyrical content and grindcore sounds furthered what would become death metal.

Macabre has been known to refer to their style of music as ``murder metal`` which is also the name of their 2003 full-length album. Corporate Death interviewed serial killers Jeffrey Dahmer (for the "Dahmer"-album) and John Wayne Gacy while they were still alive. C.D. also withnessed Gacy's trial and took notes for lyrics.

Additional notes
Ignominious is an internet bootleg. Do not add it! Known as one of the pioneering bands of the death metal genre. They're the first death metal band to have a significant commercial success, selling over a million albums throughout their career. This is due in part to them being the first death metal band to get signed to a major record label called Giant. Giant records was in association with Warner Brothers records. The band has a tradition of releasing albums in alphabetical [...] [read more]

Opeth have never distributed any demo. Their only official recording prior to "Orchid" is a promo that was only sent to labels. Do not add more demos! The band's name came from a Wilbur Smith novel. Opeth is the name of a city on the moon, though in the book it was Opet, without the h. Opeth started with Mikael kerfeldt and Anders Nordin, long-time friends, forming Eruption in 1987. They practiced in a cellar in Srskogen, playing mostly death metal covers. In 1988, the band became [...] [read more]
