Study 14
Life on the New Earth
This is the last study on the Third Angel. From our last studies we have gone right
through from the experiences on this planet, the little season as we learnt last time,
and right through to when the wicked are destroyed.
If you recall our study on the Holy Spirit it is he that can impart things to our inner
being. The holy oil to the olive trees, into the pipes and into the candlestick and then
from the candle stick to make the lights burning.
The church, Gods people can be lights in the world in regards to the pure truth. The
Holy Spirit is the teacher of righteousness according to righteousness giving the
latter rain that leads the faithful people to be part of Gods kingdom and enter the holy
city.
This is exactly what the third angels message is empowered to do. As we have
studied their messages, we have been taken through the entire picture of Gods
outlook right through till after the millennium.
If you look back through the whole panorama through the studies we have had, we
can see the entire picture of the history of the world in its final culmination to the end
and now in this study, the completion of it.
Isaiah 33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the
hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall
dwell with everlasting burnings?
33:15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain
of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears
from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
33:16 He shall dwell on high: his place of defence [shall be] the munitions of rocks:
bread shall be given him; his waters [shall be] sure.
33:17 Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is
very far off.
Here is a comprehensive description of the people who will be dwelling amongst the
burning of this planet. When the elements will melt with fervent heat and the whole
planet will be one sea of smouldering burning people amongst everything to be burnt
up on this planet. They will dwell with everlasting burnings without being destroyed.
These people will be protected during the time of trouble and ultimately their eyes
shall see the king in his beauty but not only that they shall see the land that is very
far off.
While the earth was wrapped in the fire of destruction, the righteous abode safely
in the Holy City. Upon those that had part in the first resurrection, the second death
has no power. While God is to the wicked a consuming fire, He is to His people both
a sun and a shield. Revelation 20:6; Psalm 84:11. {GC 673.3}
"I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were
passed away." Revelation 21:1. The fire that consumes the wicked purifies the earth.
Every trace of the curse is swept away. No eternally burning hell will keep before the
ransomed the fearful consequences of sin. {GC 674.1}
We are picking up our message, the earth totally cleansed by fire as we concluded
last week and what is left after these consuming fires take place to destroy the
wicked but are a shield and protection for Gods people?
Malachi 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the
proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall
burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor
branch.
Malachi 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise
with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of
your feet in the day that I shall do [this], saith the LORD of hosts.
The only thing that is left is ashes when this fire has done its burning. The fire that
consumes the wicked purifies the earth.
Said the angel, "Satan is the root, his children are the branches. They are now
consumed root and branch. They have died an everlasting death. They are never to
have a resurrection, and God will have a clean universe." I then looked and saw the
fire which had consumed the wicked, burning up the rubbish and purifying the earth.
Again I looked and saw the earth purified. There was not a single sign of the curse.
The broken, uneven surface of the earth now looked like a level, extensive plain.
God's entire universe was clean, and the great controversy was forever ended.
Wherever we looked, everything upon which the eye rested was beautiful and holy.
{EW 295.1}
After the ashes we see one big level plain andwhat do we learn now? This is the
completion of all wickedness, everything is clean. But do we stop there?
Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former
shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Behold, now that it is all clean, now that it is all purified and there is no more
wickedness, now I’m going to create everything new. I marvel how the bible and the
Spirit of Prophecy in their interactivity give their step by step description.
The same fire from God that consumed the wicked purified the whole earth. The
broken, ragged mountains melted with fervent heat, the atmosphere also, and all the
stubble was consumed. Then our inheritance opened before us, glorious and
beautiful, and we inherited the whole earth made new. {Mar 351.2}
Everything is a level playing field and then our inheritance opened up before us.
God’s people who are in the city will actually behold God creating all things new.
They are going to see what God had done in the first place when God created the
world. They are going to watch him creating it again. I wonder if the earth being a big
molten mass, whether we will behold this molten mass becoming a level field and
God creating there. That is the picture.
We have read in that the Holy Spirit shows us things that we can’t imagine unless
the Holy Spiritmakes it clear to us. What God has prepared for us in his forecast, he
has already prepared it and the Holy Spirit is showing it to us.
1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love
him.
2:10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God.
2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we can visualise what God is going to do for
us. That is what our study is going to achieve.
Many have longed to penetrate into the glories of the future world and to have the
secrets of eternal mysteries disclosed to them, but they knock in vain. That which is
revealed is for us and for our children. . . . The Great Revealer hath opened to our
intelligence many things that are essential in order that we may understand the
heavenly attractions and have respect to the recompense of the reward. . . . {HP
366.2}
The unfoldings of Jesus in reference to heavenly things are of a character that
only the spiritual mind can appreciate. The imagination may summon its utmost
powers in order to picture the glories of heaven, but "eye hath not seen, nor ear
heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath
prepared for them that love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9). The heavenly intelligences are
all around us. . . . Angels of light create a heavenly atmosphere about the soul, lifting
us toward the unseen and eternal. We cannot behold their forms with our natural
sight; only by the spiritual vision can we discern heavenly things. Our human powers
would be extinguished by the inexpressible glory of the angels of light. The spiritual
ear alone can distinguish the harmony of heavenly voices. It is not Christ's plan to
excite the emotions by brilliant descriptions. . . . He has with sufficient distinctness
presented Himself, the way, the truth, and the life, as the only means whereby
salvation is to be obtained. {HP 366.3}
Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can if we have a spiritual mind, appreciate
the things we are reading. To others, they might summon the imagination to picture
the glories of heaven but they can’t. The Holy Spiritis willing to reveal the things we
can’t see with our bare eyes. The Holy Spirit has shown us;
Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not.
Things we cannot comprehend, we cannot know, he says Iam going to show you.
Let us venture into what he has revealed as life on the new earth. We see God
creating this beautiful new earth and the description given needs to be understood
and appreciated by what has happened to us physically. This is the first item we will
look at. Our physical make up on the new earth. We can’t comprehend it with the
natural mind or eye.
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we
shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall
see him as he is.
If you saw him as he is now what would happen to you? You would die. When he
comes, we would be in a physical condition that we will see him.
Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the
Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious
body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto
himself.
We will be like him in physical state. Our body will be fashioned like unto his glorious
body. Here we have a clear understanding that the body that we have now, the
eyes, senses the physical state, is not goingto be the same. It is going to be a
glorious body.
1 Corinthians 15:35 But some [man] will say, How are the dead raised up? and with
what body do they come?
15:39 All flesh [is] not the same flesh: but [there is] one [kind of] flesh of men,
another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, [and] another of birds.
15:40 [There are] also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the
celestial [is] one, and the [glory] of the terrestrial [is] another.
15:41 [There is] one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another
glory of the stars: for [one] star differeth from [another] star in glory.
15:42 So also [is] the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in
incorruption:
