Magic Bullet Suite 2.

1 New Features Description

Getting Started Welcome to Magic Bullet Suite 2.1 update. This upgrades offers a number of new features and exciting speed enhancements. There are three major enhancements in this version: 1. Look Suite 2 graphics card acceleration. This new version offers up to real-time playback and rendering speed (depending on your graphics card) using the graphics processor. See the hardware requirement section for more information. 2. Ten new looks for Look Suite that are available in all of the host platforms. The new looks range from simple outdoor appropriate looks to movie and televisioninspired treatments that mimic looks from The Island, and the CSI series. 3. A new Deartifactor plug-in. This plug-in is the same features as the Magic Bullet plug-in Deartifactor control. It repairs chroma sampling issues removing jaggies in DV/HDV material as well as prepping footage for blue screen work. This plug-in is appropriate for use on progressive material where deinterlacing is not required. In addition, this version fully supports the latest After Effects 7.0 on Mac OS X and Windows XP. Installation Installation of Magic Bullet Suite 2 is the same as previous version. Simply run the installer for your platform and the installer will take care of the rest. You should have your copy of After Effects installed before running the Magic Bullet Suite installer. You will need to enter a serial number when you run the installer. This serial number validates the copy of the software. The installer can be run in demo mode without entering a serial number but a watermark logo will appear on the footage. Hardware Requirements Recommended base requirements for the product are the following: Mac OS X Power Mac G5 Mac OS X 10.3.9 512 MB of RAM 15 MB of Hard drive space

Windows Windows XP Service Pack 1 Pentium 4 2.4 GHz or higher (or equivalent) 512 MB of RAM 15 MB of Hard drive space Look Suite 2 requires a recent graphics card to get render acceleration. The plug-in will automatically test the card on startup. The GPU switch will enable or disable if the graphics card can or cannot provide acceleration for Look Suite. Here are the cards that we recommend along with expected acceleration for the Looks. Each application will provide different levels of performance and other factors such as media size and hard disk or RAID speed will determine your actual playback and render speed in After Effects. The best OpenGL acceleration can be seen in After Effects 7.0. Mac OS Good (6-8 fps playback) ATI 9600/9800 SE/Pro Better (8-13 fps playback) ATI X800XT NVIDIA 6600 GT/6800 GT DDL/6800 Ultra DDL Best (12-20 fps playback) ATI X850 XT NVIDIA 7800 GT/Quadro 4500

Windows XP (PCI Express-based graphics card recommended) Good (7-11 fps playback) nVidia 6600 GT/6800 nVidia Quadro 540/1400 Better (12-20 fps playback) nVidia 6800 GT/6800 Ultra nVidia Quadro 3400/4000 Best (17-30 fps playback)

nVidia 7600/7800/7900 GT/GTX nVidia Quadro 4400/4500 Only nVidia-based graphics card are supported on Windows in this release. The current release as of this release is nVidia 81.72. PLEASE USE THE LATEST DRIVER UPDATE ON WINDOWS TO ASSURE COMPATIBILITY AND PERFORMANCE. New Features Look Suite The new Looks Suite tool provides a new switch for the GPU. This switch is enabled if a supported graphics card is found. If the switch is grayed out, your graphics card does not have the required features to support acceleration. Turning on the GPU switch will create output that is visually identical to the CPU version. The graphics card engine can be used for final output to any compressed or uncompressed codec and is designed to provide final output results at any resolution or frame rate up to 1920 x 1080. New Looks In addition to the acceleration, ten new looks are provided. The following are the descriptions for the new Looks.
King of Pain Inspired by the sharp blue hues of the Lord of War, this look add contrast and darkens the image. Try adjusting post gamma lower on darker footage. Based on Un-bloom, this variation add milky areas to the shadow and pop to the greens. Slightly warm and contrasty compared to the original. With lots of contrast and a strong light bronze grad, this look will turn grays to glossy brass or gold. Try varying the post gamma to open up the shadows. This look adds a little contrast and very little diffusion, with popping bright greens and reds. Use on a clean image for tremendous outdoor punch.

Soft Screen

Bossy Pink

Big Country

Night Time 2 A day for night variation for brighter daylight footage. The look keeps the blacks at a reasonable level with less saturation in the blue tones. Crime Scene Use it on your next crime scene set in your favorite metropolis. Echo Blue Adds a blue tone to the highlights while keeping the image in balance with gold tones in the blacks. Try on your next escape scene. A paper variation of black and white inspired by gold tone movie posters.

Paper White

Red Light

A warm red tone plus moderate contrast shifts make the red hotter and the blues move to purple tones.

Bleach Bypass Light This variation of Bleach Bypass is less aggressive in the contrast and is suitable for low key images. The shadows open up in this version so use with caution on noisy footage.

Deartifactor Magic Bullet Suite 2.1 now includes the popular deartifacting feature from Magic Bullet as a separate plug-in. This tool does not support frame rate conversion or deinterlacing. It does offer chroma reconstruction that will smooth edges of outlines and objects to provide better looking output and higher-quality source material for keying. We recommend that use this plug-in on progressive material such as video from a Panasonic DVX100 camera. The plug-in will work on interlaced frames but the sampling may not provide as accurate a smoothing on interlaced frames. There are three options in Deartifactor: DV/HDV - This option does 4 sample chroma reconstruction to compensate for 4:1:1 or 4:2:0 sampling HDCAM - This option does 3 sample reconstruction to compensate for 3:1:1 sampling Broadcast - This option does 2 sample reconstruction to compensate for 4:2:2 sampling If you are working with high-quality sources like HD 4:4:4 YUV video, then the deartifactor is simply not required.
