Introduction:

The moment connection is designed to support the member capacity of the beam, the detail of the connection was taken from (Joints in steel construction-Moment connection) to achieve the maximum capacity for the connection. Haunched will be added to the beam. As from the tables tables, the beam (UB 533x210x82) moment capacity is 731 KN KN.m m

From Table, using 200 mm haunched will give the connection capacity greater than the beam, but due to the bolt size difference and due to the ease of detailing, 2 more rows of bolts will be considered (M20) & the haunched size will be the same as beam depth (45 degree inclination) which will satisfy the condition of resisting the beam moment capacity. after implementing the above detailing and increase bolt row numbers, the connection would be as follow
