MetaQuery Introduction
MetaQuery which was a standalone Informatica tool, is now embedded in Support Console. This is a tool to query against PowerCenter repository for key properties in sessions, workflows, and mapping objects.

MetaQuery License
MetaQuery is available to all Informatica Customers with no additional cost.

MetaQuery installation and configuration

You will need to install Support Console to access MetaQuery. For more information on installing and configuring Support Console, please refer to Prerequisites and Configuration Guide available with the download.

Accessing MetaQuery through Support console

After installing Support Console, access Support Console using the URL: http://<hostname>:<portnumber>.

4.1 Default port number is 25000 and you can change this during the installation. For more details on installation, see Pre-Requisites and Installation Guide. 4.2 Default user-name and password for Support Console is admin / admin.

MetaQuery Functionality and Properties

MetaQuery is a tool that uses JDBC to connect to PowerCenter repository database via credentials provided. Currently the tool supports repository in Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server. The following are some of the features of this tool: This tool displays a list of properties for sessions, workflows, mappings that can be used for querying purposes, on the left pane (There are different properties currently supported). Click on any of the property on the left pane and the right pane displays the options to query on the selected property. After making selections from the right pane, click on Get Details button.

Once you get the details, you can export it to CSV format or get it as an email attachment.

5.1 Adding and deleting PowerCenter repository

To add a repository, Go to My Repositories > Actions > Add Repository. Note: You can add and connect more than one repository. Each repository will be displayed as a tab.

In the Repository Properties dialog, provide the following details:

Field Name User Name Password Oracle/SQL Server/DB2 Host Port Service/Database

Description User name of the repository database Password of the repository database Database of your repository Host name of the database Port Number of the database Service Name for Oracle. Database for DB2

Click Test, to test the repository connection. Note: When the test connection is successful, then it will display the Repository name and if it is Versioned or Non- Versioned.

Click Save to save the Repository Connection details. Click Connect to connect to the repository. You can also connect to an existing repository through Actions.

To delete a repository, click on Reports >> MetaQuery tab. Highlight the repository that you wish delete. And under Actions Menu, click Remove Repository as shown below.

5.2 Connecting to and disconnecting from PowerCenter repository

To connect to an existing repository,
1. Select the repository under My Repositories. 2. Go to Actions > Connect Repository.

Alternatively, you can also double click on the repository to connect to it.

Enter the password in the Repository Connect dialog.

To disconnect from a repository,

Select the repository under My Repositories. Go to Actions > Disconnect Repository.

Alternatively, you can also double click on the repository to disconnect to it.

5.3 Running MetaQuery Report

When you expand the (newly) added repository, it will display the queries for the following: Session Mapping Workflow Transformation

To get the details of the property, Select the property and click Get Details.

For Example, Select Target Load Type under Session. To filter your search, you can choose to run the MetaQuery on a specific Folder. Depending on the property, different parameters are displayed. You can choose the Value(s) accordingly.

The description of the selected property will be displayed against Description. For Versioned repository, some properties may not produce correct results. A Warning will be displayed and a small red cross is displayed against the property name.

In the Filter section, you can filter the results by using the following: Keywords

Filter by Column: To add or remove columns from the results page, click in the

icon.

From the Column Selection dialog, you can choose to make a column visible or invisible.

The results are displayed page wise. To go to a certain page, enter the page number or navigate to the that page using the arrow keys.

You can export the results to CSV file by clicking on the You can also email this result by clicking on the attachment to user who is logged in.

5.5 Managing Users

The Admin tab on Support Console will let you configure parameters for other features of support console. One of the features that might be of interest is to restrict access to support console by changing password of admin users, creating and configuring users. 6. Updating MetaQuery
Any new updates of MetaQuery are available as Support Console updates. For more information, refer to following KB: HOW TO: Upgrade Support Console using Support Console Agent
