A message from Our President I am excited for the year and for what it has to offer. I want to encourage you to join HALO and be part of our familia. HALO is about leadership, community service, raising awareness, and youth empowerment. As President, I want us to grow as leaders on and off campus, engage more with the public schools, and keep increasing our volunteerism within the Hispanic Community. Goals and Objectives

The wichita State University Hispanic American Leadership Organization was established for the purpose of better serving our people, community, and fellow students. The goals and objectives of Halo shall include but not be limited to: Functioning as a support system for Latino Students. Bring awareness to issues/obstacles facing Hispanic cultures. Providing a family atmosphere for WSU students. Latino youth empowerment. Encouraging/Guiding Hispanic high school students to attend college.

Events & Activities 2013 - 2014

United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI), the Largest Latino conference is hosted in chicago, Illinois. We participate in workshops that are motivating and inspiring. Current hispanic leaders offer advice about how to continue our journey through college and how we can succeed not only in future careers, but in life. Adopt a Family, During christmas we Sponsor a less fortunate family by providing gifts. End of the Year Banquet, Every year, all halo members along with friends and family get together to Acknowledge outstanding members and honor our Halo graduates. Socials, la Familia will meet once a month to further our growth by participating in fun activities such as game/movie nights, bowling, soccer, or cookouts. S, Se Puede! Our motto that Yes we can attend and finish college. We can be successful leaders in our communities. This is our biggest event of the year were we invite Hispanic High school students from the wichita community to WSU to be involved in workshops on admissions, scholarships, and how to transition into college.
