PROJECT TITLE:

PROJECT CLASSIFICATION:

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: state the objectives of the proposed program or project, the functional
criteria of the building or facility, the architectural character of the project, and the site characteristics and / or requirements.

ACTIVITY AND USER IDENTIFICATION: identify the major group activities, which shall occur within the building/s and its environment. Identify also the projects major use(e.g. public, staff/personnel, etc.) and the corresponding room area required to accommodate the activities. State any specific characteristics or conditions of major activities or users which may have impact on the building design. This evolves identifications of the essential design considerations, including a listing of required facilities and user related data involve to support and achieve the intended function of the room. Essential considerations include the following: 2.1 ACTIVITIES INVOLVED: a listing that provides a clearer understanding of the activities done within a designated area or room. The spec8ific description of the activities involved gives information on the room/area users, type and number of furniture or facilities needed to support the activities listed. 2.2 PEOPLE INVOLVED: a listing that provides information on the n7umver of occupants of rooms/areas. Through the anthropometrics, space qualification can be done to identify room/area sizes to accommodate the activities of the occupants. 2.3 ROOM / AREA REQUIRED: this involves the identification of rooms or spaces required to support the user activities. Major space categories are identified, which are in turn subdivided into specific rooms. 2.4 CHRACTERISTICS AND CONDITIONS: this involves the identification of activity, user or room characteristics or special requirements which may have impact on the planning and/or design of the building.(e.g. sound isolation requirements, need for view, etc.) 2.5 PLANNING RELATIONSHIPS: this indicates the areas and services that are to be located adjacent to each other or at least immediately accessible to the room/area being referred to.

FUNCTIONAL DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

Identify the Functional Design Criteria of the specific rooms or spaces based on there functions, number of users, furniture/fixture requirements. Through anthropometrics, computation of room sizes can be done. The Area Facility Sheet Index and the Room Data Sheet aids the designer in preparation of the Preliminary Designs/Schematics.

3.0 SPACE RELATIONSHIP MATRIX AND CIRCULATORY DIAGRAMS

illustrate the interrelationships of the rooms or spaces in the space relationship matrix. From the matrix, a circulatory diagram can be constructed, indicating traffic flow areas and integrating room sizes thereto.

4.0 DESIGN ESSAY / CONCEPT

5.0 SCHEMATIC PLANS

Based from the circulatory diagrams and the integration of the data from previous studies, prepare the schematic or the preliminary plans indicating room sizes, openings, traffic/ circulatory areas and other design requirements. Schematic drawings should be properly scaled.
